About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 4.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 12)

House with 3 interior living areas surrounded by decks. Sleeps 12. 5 Bedroom, 3 den home. Perfect for families or groups.

Enjoy a glorious setting with private beach, pier and sweeping views. Quiet, private grounds on beautiful Sugar Pine Point are the setting for historic early 1900’s May ah Mee Lodge.

The stone owner’s cabin, originally part of the Old May ah Mee Lodge that hosted Aimee Semple Mc Pherson and numerous other luminaries in the teens and 1920s, is the core of the new May ah Mee.

A lovely home with spectacular dawn to dark views from every room, two stone fireplaces and many secluded spaces to capture private moments, it offers unique ambiance blending Old Tahoe style with up to date comforts. Three decks expand spacious easy living.

A large private pier and buoy make boating easy and convenient. When the lake level is low, a sandy beach extends your area for playing and conversing. Enjoy a BBQ on the lakeside rock patio.

Wonderful for family gatherings, this house is for discerning guests who will appreciate the historic charm of the home. The “new ”May ah Mee is was built a decade ago with state of the art heating, insulation, and electronic amenities. The house is fully equipped for gracious living. The property is accessed via a quiet road off Hwy 89.

It is an easy amble to the country store with its great deli, groceries & wine selection. You’ll find a pizzeria, coffee bar, post office, video shop, kayak rentals & two great restaurants within walking distance.

Hike and bike on trails leading to Sugar Pine Point and Emerald Bay State Parks with beaches, and national forest, Desolation Wilderness. A meandering paved bike path makes its way along the shore to Tahoe City, down the Truckee River all the way to Squaw Valley.

Remarks from our guests:

--“Thank you for sharing your special slice of heaven with us. We enjoyed hiking, boating and relaxing with special friends! We feel blessed to have spent quality time with people we care about in this beautiful place.

We will miss the spectacular sunsets and relaxing on the pier—not to mention the great meals together. My son tremendously enjoyed “treasure hunting” on the beach and catching fish and crawdads.

We can hardly wait to come back….”

---“Today we go home. I love the sunrise on the pier. It is so quiet and beautiful. When I need to relax in the future, I will think back to this place and time.”

“I am sitting here in the kitchen looking over the water and at the mountains thinking how fortunate I am to be in such a wonderful place. I must bring my watercolor friends here when I return”

…” Our group had a wonderful fall quilting week here. We eight friends have quilted, laughed and cried together this week. The beautiful surroundings are an inspiration for our design work. The house is warm and welcome and spacious enough to spread out our sewing.

Thank you for a week of immersion in beauty and friendship…”

A week in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at May-Ah-Mee was amazing! The weather was perfect and the lake was crystal clear. It was also warm enough to swim all day. Amazing! Can't wait to go back. I'm thinking of having our Executive Team retreat there in the fall.

Best Spot on the Lake!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place! Beautiful views, plenty of private beach, a fabulous pier on which to hang out and watch the boats go by. The home is clean, cozy and beautifully appointed. Great location--west side is the best side!--loved walking to the gelato place just across the street on our way back from Sugar Pine Point State Park. This place is ideal for a family getaway or a multiple family vacation. Thank you for the perfect vacation!

Quiet Respite with Beautiful Views during Shoulder Seasons

  • 5 of 5

I enjoy the May Ah Mee Lodge during off-season, when it's quieter and stunningly beautiful. The Lake is low this year, so there's a big beach for making rock art and perfect pinecones to collect. Seems like the sun rises earlier here than at home, peeking over the purple-black Sierras and reflecting off the wide expanse of shimmering water. I enjoyed a cup of morning coffee on the pier, with only the sound of small lapping waves and wind in the trees. I love this place.

Wonderful Escape from the Rat Race!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place, clean, comfortable beds, and lots to do! We just returned from a week at Ma Ah Mee. My whole family was there, and we had a great time just hanging out. It's walking distance to a great store with an amazing Deli, the water is wonderful, (bring your water shoes, the shore is hard on the feet). We brought a boat to tour and water ski, which we did in abundance. This year the water is low, but the lodge provides a rowboat. Fishing is so-so on Lake Tahoe unless you know what you're doing, BUT: there are Crayfish everywhere under the dock or on the two rock- jettys. Give the kids some string with a piece of lunch meat tied on. Go about dusk, and you'll have dozens in no time! I think the whole family had more fun gathering crayfish than almost any other activity! I've never had them before, but find a good recipe, and they made a great tasty happy hour snack! If you want to keep them overnight, or just use a trap, go to the hardware store 4 miles up in Tahoe City.

Across the street is a decent pizza joint, and a good Gelato stand. Next door is the local park and there are kid friendly movies most summer weekends. Lots of hiking and biking nearby. OK, I'm bouncing around, but the lodge is a great place for a large family to reconnect, play, and recharge. Thank you!

Bliss at May-Ah-Mee

  • 5 of 5

I just arrived home after a week at May-Ah-Mee Lodge in Lake Tahoe. It was blissful and amazing! Each morning, we woke to the gentle sounds of the water lapping on the shore. We spent our days relaxing on the pier, walking in the nearby state park, and kayaking on the crystal clear lake. I wish I was there now! The property is fantastic! It was clean and comfortable, and it also feels like home. I highly recommend it!

a slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This "cabin" is really the get away of a lifetime! My family and I came for a week in the summer and it was spectacular! We went boating and hiking and we even visited the south shore. We played games on the deck in the evening and watched the sunset. What an amazing and peaceful place! We will be back!
