The 1883 Whitaker - Huntingdon Inn Overlooks Beautiful 32 Acre Forsyth Park and its Historic Fountain. The Inn is Located on the Southwestern Corner of Whitaker and Huntingdon Streets and Faces the 1853 Water Fountain Located on the North End of Forsyth Park and it is only Minutes from Shops and Restaurants. The Park is available for bicycling, tennis, field sports, and strolling or jogging along its one mile long, Azalea and Live Oak lined perimeter or interior landscaped spaces. Currently one 2 bedroom suite is available for vacation rental. The Taylor-Dunn Suite is located downstairs and has 2br, 2b, kitchen livingroom, 2 queen beds, sleeper sofa and a side door that goes out to the garden area. Staying here will give you a feeling of Luxury, History, and Relaxation. A queen air mattress is available for youth upon request. Parking is free just outside the property.

We do have a 10 day cancellation policy for stays of less than six nights; and, a 21 day cancellation policy for longer nightly stays. We do try to work with guests on individual issues and/or conditions they have no control over when situations warrant alternative action.
Larger discounts on rates and total tax exemptions for longer stays as allowed by local and state laws !!!! Contact Property Owner for more information! We do welcome longer term stays and will work with guests on rates.
Out door court yard with small fish ponds are available for guests' use. Please note that City of Savannah codes do not allow noise or activities that could adversely impact neighbors, especially between the hours of 9 PM and 7 AM.
Free on-street parking is located adjacent to the property, which is readily available; and, we do have three on-site garaged secured parking spaces, if desired, for an additional daily fee.
We work with guests in an effort to allow early check-in and/or late check-out when we can to assist, especially those with early or late flights or for other reasons that would make their stay more relaxed and enjoyable.
Guests pay balance due upon arrival and property may be reserved with a credit card number or mailing a check made out to the property (Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn) for $125.00 to reserve the property. The balance is paid upon check-in or as agreed by owner and guest. The owners do prefer balance of payment via check or cash at at check-in; but do accept credit cards if desired by guests.
Manager's cancellation policy:
50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

Car: Not Necessary
Our rental unit is located in prime area of Savannah's Historic District and within walking distance of all downtown attractions. We are directly across the street from Forsyth Park, a 32 acre city park/arboretum; and, are on a public transit route and within a block of free downtown shuttle routes. Free on-street parking is located on Huntingdon Street adjacent to our property and private garage parking is available on site, if desired and reserved. Public beaches and fishing pier are within a 25 minute drive as well as local and Federal Wildlife Reservations, boating and golfing facilities and other historic sites, like Fort Pulaski National Park and Forts McAlister, Jackson and Screven. Many places of worship are within walking distance as are theaters, restaurants, grocery store, shopping and various site seeing tour services. Owner lives on the site and is well versed in Savannah' History and attractions and is glad to offer suggestions or information, if recommendations or directions are desired.
Year Purchased: 1976
About: The Saxman family purchased this home in 1976 and raised their two youngest children here before opening the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn, in 1995. The Inn was operated as a B&B until 2014. Then the inn's largest suite was leased as a full-service 'vacation rental' unit. Both owners retired from their respective previous 39 and 21 year-long professions. They now enjoy hosting visitors in their inn situated in their historic home/inn. We have met many visitors over the past twenty years and have become friends with a number of guests whom have shared our home numerous times. Guests still like to be on their own schedules; have free parking in a convenient, desirable location in the historic district; and feel the history and enjoy the architectural details of this 1883 home and Savannah; plus enjoy the urban tree canopy and landscaped areas of Forsyth Park and the other nearby public spaces.

The house is located in a prime area of the Savannah Historic District on beautiful Forsyth Park. It was and still is an ideal place for raising a family, for jogging and training for races; or, just enjoying the outdoors in a 32 acre park/arbortum with areas to experience various recreational, social and/or quite times.

The owners private glassed climate controlled sun porch is available for guests as a nice place to read, people and/or dog watch (as they walk or jog around the park), or just sit and have a nice chat with family or play a game on the porch. Three goldfish pond fountains on-site offer a soothing sound and a plash of color while sitting on the property's patios.
