Why Sara FitzGerald chose Lunas
La Ronciere is set in a stunning location. Peace and quiet but within 15 minutes of the historic city Bergerac. In Le Cluzeau we have absolute quiet and tranquility to ensure a truly peaceful and relaxing stay. Within 15 mins you have all the facilities of Bergerac or Mussidan where there is also the weekly markets. Great days out........Bordeaux is just over an hours drive with St Emilion around 40 minutes. Going east we have the stunning Dordogne valley with Baynac and Sarlat under an hour & a half. La Ronciere provides a central location to visit many of the famous attractions in this area. Lots of information on days out and local attractions available once you arrive.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
La Ronciere has just been refurbished and has the benefit of a new Astro Turf tennis court along with a newly installed liner for the pool and a revamped pool house which is perfect for lunches and dinners. There is also a new croquet lawn suitable at the moment for amateurs! The house is set in approximately 13 acres of park like garden and woodland and is therefore extremely peaceful.

La Ronciere is an extremely attractive, well equipped and comfortable house. It was immaculately clean on arrival and Ruth and Kate were there to meet us. Throughout our stay they were extremely helpful, and on one evening cooked us an absolutely delicious dinner. The pool was great, and it was lovely to be able to play Vicarage Tennis! The court isn't up to much more than that, but it was great fun. The house is in a pretty hamlet, but not far from the main road to Bergerac. It is very private. We were lucky to have wonderful weather throughout our stay, but had we not, boring though it would have been, there is plenty of room in the various reception rooms and plenty of indoor things to do, there being a well stocked library of books and dvds. We had a really lovely time, and cannot recommend it more highly. Many thanks to Ruth and Kate Guilor!
Grant, Thank you very much for your kind comments; we hope to see you again sometime in the future. Ruth & Kate
La Ronciere is situated between two rivers, to the south is the mighty Dordogne and to the north the more gentle flowing L'isle; both offer riverside walks, fishing and canoeing. On the Dordogne you can also take a cruise in a Gabbard, the craft traditionally used for taking barrels of Bergerac wine to the seaport of Bordeaux. It's worth visiting the Maison du Vin in Bergerac or maybe join a local vineyard tour to one of the many Chateau to sample the local wines. A little further afield (45mins drive) lies the UNESCO site of St Emilion, a must see for all wine lovers! Within half an hour to an hour we have many historic 'Bastide' towns and villages so interesting for those that enjoy the history of the 100 years war, many of them also have great markets and the evening food markets are a great way to sample the local produce. This leads us on to the famous Foie Gras and other local delicacies - Goose and Duck are seen on all the local menus and we have a farm restaurant just 5 mins away form the house in the next village. In the summer season we have a abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables and of course the markets are great for soaking up the local atmosphere. The area offers wonderful walks, cycle routes or you can just leisurely drive along the quiet roads. To the east are gorges, castles and gardens to explore; punctuated by a lazy lunch in a local café of course!. For those that like shopping, Bergerac has some quaint cobbled streets with some lovely shops and restaurants and on the outskirts there are a good selection of supermarkets, fuel stations etc There is also a smaller selection of supermarkets at Mussidan. Half an hour to the NE there is the capital of the Dordogne, Perigueux with its Byzantine style cathedral and historical sites. The magnificent city of Bordeaux is only an hour away by train and just about 15 mins longer by car.........There is just too much to see & do in a single visit to this fascinating and beautiful area of South West France!
