About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9-10)

Situated on Beautiful Lake Lure in the North Carolina Mountains, this Non-Smoking home is only 25 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina, home of the Biltmore Estate. Lake Lure is noted as the filming location for the films 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Last of the Mohicans'.

Our newly renovated home is decorated in rustic mountain decor and is 'beary' appealing. The sunroom overlooks the lake and cove and is a perfect place to relax in one of the rocking chairs or rustic log chairs. Equipped with a bar area, it is the perfect place to take in the Lure of the Lake.

Our home has a main floor with two bedrooms, full kitchen, den, full bath, woodburning fireplace, small bar area and sunroom which views the beautiful lake. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and the other has twin bunk beds.

The newly tiled downstairs portion of the house is accessed from interior stairs and is furnished with a King Size Bed, sleeper sofa and love seat. There is a new flatscreen TV and VCR for your enjoyment. The washer and dryer are located in this portion of the house and there is a newly renovated full bathroom downstairs. There are several Televisions provided upstairs and downstairs with cable.

There is an 8' x 8' floating dock for swimming, jumping or relaxing out in the lake. Additionally, fixed platforms have been modified at the lake level for better enjoyment of the lake and easier docking of guests boats.

Our home is equipped with a completely fenced yard and fenced deck on the lake and has a concrete patio with steps into the water with a lakefront setting that's second to none. Parking is limited to three cars along Charlotte Drive and the front door is only a few steps away. Come enjoy your stay on this picturesque lake and see why Lake Lure is a diamond in the rough.

Please note that our home is located in an area where there are year round residents. Please be courteous during your stay. We are limited to 3 parking spaces at a maximum. If you happen to bring a boat trailer, this will count as 1 of the parking spaces. Additional cars will need to find another location to park. Thank you.

Lake Lure

The house was very comfortable. We stayed with our adult children. Our bedroom was located downstairs, the others were upstairs giving us privacy. The house is clean and comfortable. Very roomy. With 8 adults, we were not crowded at all.

Very Cozy Cabin on Lake Lure

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled when we opened the door and found a very warm and cozy cabin. We shared the home with our adult children who also had a wonderful time. We had the private suite downstairs with a private entrance and bathroom and they had their privacy upstairs. The house looked newly renovated and had every thing that you would need. We played games at the table looking out at the lake, sat at the bar and enjoyed movies and fires in the great stone fireplace. We fished and used the canoe to explore the beautiful clear lake. The spacious dock was also a great place to enjoy a meal or just sit and look out at the lake. We enjoyed all of the local restaurants and tourist attractions. We will have to come back during the summer months so that we can swim.

Would not rent again.

  • 1 of 5

We were disappointed in the grounds, they were not kept up and had overgrowth of vines as well as leaves and branches. Cobwebs all over the boathouse and the canoe was kept behind the boat house and hard to get to. We did not use it. The bed, head & foot board in second bedroom was broken as was the lamp. Oven was filthy. There was no place to put our trash because both trash cans were full when we arrived. The house and grounds were neglected.

Owner's Response: This guest immediately let us know what she didn't like about our property and tended to go overboard on her complaints. We are out of town owners so rely on our local representatives to address these items and make sure the house is clean and tidy. I informed our local representative about the problems that were encountered and it was brought to our attention that this guest had 2 dogs that were not declared prior to rental and believe her complaints are to balance the guilt about not letting us know about her pets. We repaired the bed upon this guests departure and inspected the oven which was not filthy as claimed. This guest also rents her property thru vrbo in the area.

Lovely setup for multigenerational family

  • 4 of 5

This property was perfect for our 3-generation family of 6. The home is right on the lake, with a lakeside deck. We particularly liked the gathering spaces - sofa and chairs around the fireplace and an open area overlooking the lake. There's a large master suite as well as two smaller rooms with double beds. There is not a large dining area - there's a bar setup and a smallish bar-height table - which might have been more of a problem if we were all trying to sit down for formal meals.

The owners responded quickly to our questions, even on Thanksgiving.

The stairs down to the entry could be tricky for less agile guests to negotiate. The street is almost at roof level of the house. Like most properties in the area, there is a fairly long staircase down to the main entrance, and there are some uneven spots.

Overall, a lovely space with pretty much everything we needed!

Had a great time

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at this home. The location of this home was about a 5-10 minute drive to to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock and the grocery store was 3 miles away if needed. The home was at the mouth of a protected creek on the lake which was nice since we had two 10 year old girls who spent most of the time jumping off of the dock into the lake. The home was clean and well kept. The owners were responsive. This was our first time renting through VBRO and we would rent again based on this experience.

Really nice experience

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with this rental. The owners were responsive and attentive both before and during our stay. We mentioned wanting to rent a boat and the owner kindly referred us to a wonderful situation. The house itself has everything you need and is very nicely appointed. The patio next to the boat house is right on the water and where we spent most of our vacation. We also had a four year old with us and it was so easy for him to get in and out of the water.
