Lovely property in a lovely location.
We were delighted with our stay at Villa Luby. The house was very spacious with a wonderful garden in a beautiful peaceful location.
Communication with the owners was excellent and we were kindly informed of a road closure which may have affected our journey to the house.
The rooms were clean, and the kitchen was excellently equipped.
Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier genau richtig!
Wir sind sehr dankbar, dieses Objekt "zufällig" gefunden zu haben. Es ist wirklich herrlich dort!!! Das Haus ist sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und in der Küche ist alles zu finden, was das Herz begehrt.
Wir waren in der heftigsten Hitzeperiode dort und haben uns fast ausschließlich auf der überdachten Terrasse des Gartenhauses aufgehalten. Da der Garten so gut wie uneinsehbar und der nächste Nachbar sehr weit entfernt ist, konnten wir die ganze Zeit nackt auf den Liegen rumfaulenzen und den lieben Gott einen guten Mann sein lassen. Wenn es uns zu warm wurde, dann haben wir den Luxus der Außendusche genossen und uns einfach unter das angenehm kalte Wasser gestellt (warmes Wasser gibt es im Gartenhäuschen). Das Wasser kommt übrigens aus dem hauseigenen Brunnen.
Was wir am meisten genossen haben, war die absolute Stille, die nur ab und zu von weitem Hundegebell oder einem Auto unterbrochen wurde, das zufällig in der Nähe des Hauses vorbeifuhr.
Ach ja, manchmal sind wir auch unter die Leute gegangen: Die Tschechen haben wir als sehr freundlich erlebt, mit der Sprache gab es nie Probleme, da wohl die meisten deutsch sprechen. Das Essen ist grandios und sehr günstig.
Zum ersten Mal mussten wir uns gegenseitig versprechen, einen Urlaubsort wieder zu besuchen. Das werden wir tun. Versprochen!

luxe opgezette woning voor elk jaargetijde. Als je nu zoals wij in de zomer komt, maar ik stel me ook gezellige winteravonden aan het haardvuur of in de sauna voor. Luxe van opzet, met authentieke oude elementen. Ruime keuken met goede faciliteiten.

From the house you are literally one step in the 'Vogtland Nature Park'. This is a 1,500 acre large nature reserve where you can take endless walks, practice cross country, pick mushrooms, taste blueberries or watch birds of prey, deer and foxes. The area is characterized by open grassland landscapes combined with deciduous and coniferous forests.
A 10 minute walk at the Flussberg you can find the nearest restaurant with good and very cheap food. Czechs are customized to eat outdoors. Therefore you will find many restaurants in smaller places anyway.
In Germany in Markneukirchen 12 minutes away by car you will find supermarkets, good butchers and bakers. In Luby there are a couple of small supermarkets like Tesco(24/7), Albert (daughter of the Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn) and Interspar.

Františkovy Lázné / Franzensbad
Franzensbad together with Karlsbad and Mariënbad form the world famous 'West Bohemian spa triangle'. Franzensbad has many medicinal springs of high quality. The city is characterized by a great beauty of building style, so that it has earned the status of urban monument reserve.
Mariánské Lázné / Mariënbad
Beautiful 19th century spa. Large created, beautiful park and special buildings. Near Mariánské Lázné is the village Lázné Kynzvart, where you can find the early baroque castle with the park of Metternich. The beautiful golf course of Lázné Kynzvart borders to the castle park. In Tepla, 15 km east of Mariánské Lázné is a Premonstratensian monastery, this is worth to visit.
Karlovy Vary / Karlsbad
The biggest and most spectacular 19th century spa. This place is a 'must do' during a stay of one week. Near Karlovy Vary you find the city of Loket with an impressive castle, park and historic marketplace. Recordings for the James Bond movie Casino Royale have been made here.
Slow train from Luby to Cheb
In 45 minutes from Luby you arrive in the beautiful centre of Cheb, after you have driven through the beautiful landscape with this particular diesel train that goes up and down between Luby and Cheb a few times per day. On the main square in Cheb you find several restaurants with terraces, where you can eat at reasonable prices.
Butterfly farm Motýli dum Žírovice
A museum with an extensive collection and an open butterfly farm where the butterflies fly in a tropical greenhouse. Great fun for kids.
Nature reserve SOOS
Nature area with volcanic swamps, with a beautiful wooden path through it.
Plzen / Pilsen (80 km)
The origins of lager. A sized city with a beautiful old centre and the brewery, which you can visit.
Praha / Prague) (200 km)
It is worth the trip of almost two hours driving. In Villa Luby several guides are available that describe the sights of this beautiful city. Prague is beautiful in every season. Especially on a sunny autumn day, the intimate atmosphere of the city is highlighted. In summer it can get very crowded with tourists like any metropolis.
Skiing
In the immediate vicinity of Luby there are several lifts, which bring you up for a single downhill. Great for beginners or children. If you drive north, you meet in the entire Ore Mountains ski lifts and ski runs, after 10 minutes driving. Usually they are on the map, sometimes they aren´t. As a day trip you can go to the more beyond Oberwiesenthal (65 km) and Klinovec (65 km) as the most extensive ski area. To this area the owners themselves usually go there for a day of skiing. In Markneukirchen, a 10 minutes´ drive from Luby you find the first lifts. It is a small slope, but fun for children and close.
Cross country
From Villa Luby it is a wonderful cross country through the snowy landscape. It is obviously not a prepared trail, but it is a luxury to practice cross country directly from the house and to warm you with a cup of hot chocolate (with rum?) at the fire place upon returning.
Golf
The Czech Republic has a long golf tradition. The first 9-hole golf course was opened in 1904 in Karlovy Vary. The best golf courses are in the vicinity of the capital of Prague, in the West Bohemian spa triangle and in northern Moravia. The courses are all designed by leading international architects. The beauty of golf in the Czech Republic is that all golf courses are in het vicinity of natural monuments and beautiful historic buildings. During the construction of the golf courses it is always taken into account what the setting the golfer has to offer: beautiful nature, good accommodation and any wellness program. In the immediate vicinity of Villa Luby there are 5 18 holes golf courses and in Luby you find a 9-holes golf course.
Swimming
Near Cheb you can swim in the lake of Jesenice. This is a large reservoir. Just outside Skalna is also a natural swimming pool. In Franzensbad you can find swimming paradise Aquaforum.
