The Sundew Cabin is a remote cabin bordering the BWCA Wilderness Area. You will have complete privacy with NO neighbors, just deer, moose and wolves. The cabin and sauna are handcrafted with logs by the owner. It is located on a wildlife pond, not a recreational lake. It is paradise for people interested in bog orchids, hearing bitterns, hearing wolf howls, and complete quiet. It is close to Pickerel Lake, from which there is direct BWCA access (Kawishiwi River). Pickerel is good for swimming and fishing, as well.
The cabin is rustic and cozy. It has solar lights, propane cooking and refrigeration. The toilet is a simple outhouse and bathing is done in a traditional Finnish steam sauna.
We provide a canoe at Pickerel Lake and you can paddle and portage to many lakes surrounding the cabin. The cabin is open during the winter also. It is fully insulated and has great back country cross country skiing. The cabin is located east of Ely about 10 miles from town, north of Pickerel Lake and south of Fall Lake.
There is $10 fee per day for one pet, $15 for two pets per day. We ask that you please leave the pet fee as cash on the counter for us to collect when you leave!
