Good Salem Location
We enjoyed our stay very much. The kitchen had everything we needed and the house is centrally located to everything. There were a few things that we would have done to make the house a little more "homey". The back bedroom on the first floor didn't have any curtains/blinds at the 2 windows, we bought plastic tableclothes and taped them up. The best mattresses are on the 3rd floor, but there is no bathroom up there, so we ended up not using that floor at all, the mattresses in the other rooms left a little to be desired. Barely had enough toilet paper to last through the 5 days we were there and most of it was 1 ply. Spring for 2 ply!
Great house for a large group with lots of character!
Nine of us shared this house for a weekend retreat, and it was the perfect place for a quiet getaway for a group of adults. The property is exactly as advertised by the owner. It is an older home, but has lots of character. There were enough bathrooms that we didn't feel the pinch even with a large group, and all of the bathrooms are modern and in good shape. We really liked the "family" feel of the place; it had a variety of different rooms and the dining room held all of us. The house also had easy access to the Common, the water, and the town of Salem. Very pleased; we would definitely stay here again.
Great charm and location!
A charming home in a perfect location! Our family of 12 stayed here comfortably. We spent most of our time in the dinning room. The house was spacious so we all had our privacy! This house is old and not perfect but that is what makes it charming! The owner was very kind and helpful, we would definitely stay again!
Great location, interesting historical property
The house was as expected; the owner emphasized that it is not a hotel, it's a 200 year old house, some windows don't open, the doors don't fit and the floors are squeaky and uneven. This just added to the true character of the house. The house was clean and everything was serviceable. Modern kitchen and bathrooms and plenty of room for the seven of us. If you have small kids, the stairs to the attic bedrooms are narrow, steep and have a small landing at the top, it might not be ideal; our youngest is 14 so it wasn't an issue with us. The location is great; nice neighborhood, walking distance to the Commons, and all the nearby attractions. We drove into Boston four days during our stay...yes, Boston traffic sucks, but it was nice to come back home to Salem and relax. There is a nice patio out back with gas and charcoal grills. This house was perfect for us.
Excellent Home for visiting the "Witch City"
Location, Location, Location! This home was within walking distance to everything! It was great to park the car and just explore. After a full day it was comforting to come "home" to enough room for our group of eight to spread out and play games in one room, watch movies in another and enjoy quiet reading time in yet another! The kitchen was well stocked with items needed to prepare the food we had brought along and while the home maybe old, its charm, comfort and location, more than made up for a few doors not closing. Owner was very helpful and I would highly recommend this property.
We were very happy with the home, it was in walking distance of everything that we wanted and needed to do. We sat in the yard every evening and enjoyed cocktails!! Wonderful family vacation
