Not far from the famous NW Dordogne town of Brantome, is the small village of St. Just, and here a quiet lane leads to the 5 houses which form the hamlet of 'La Roche Chabrelle'. (or 'Chabrelle')
Our home, 'Chez Hodgkiss', is the last building before the lane becomes a track. This quiet hamlet is in an elevated position overlooking woods and farmland, with gentle walks all around.
Chez Hodgkiss' our home, comprises of an old farmhouse and a barn all set in approx 2 acres of land.
The barn has been lovingly converted into two gites, (one called 'The Barn' [property ref.1939230], with two bedrooms, and the other called 'The Stables' [property ref.1939228], with one bedroom.)
Please note that to provide privacy and peace for our guests we only rent out one of the gites at a time, unless a party wishes to rent both together.
Each gites has a wealth of exposed stone walls, oak or tiled floors, and rustic beams. Decoration and furnishings have been chosen to provide comfort and convenience for your holiday.
A pool and sun terrace are situated away from the buildings and gives lovely views across the valley.
The post van is the total passing traffic, however we are not remote, being within easy reach of La Tour Blanche, Riberac, and Brantome with nearby shops and restaurants.
Here is a place for relaxing and enjoying your home away from home, and as a base for exploring the surrounding area, either by foot, bike or car.
'The Stables' are all on one level without steps, to give ease of access and usage.
Entry is from the courtyard, where a morning coffee can be enjoyed in the shade of the walnut tree.
The entrance hall gives access to a good sized bedroom with king-size bed, bedside cabinets, a wardrobe, a set of drawers and a dressing table.
Also off the hall is the bath room with a walk-in shower area, W.C. and basin; the washing machine is located in a recess within the bathroom.
At the rear, overlooking the garden and pool, is the lounge, dining and kitchen, with French doors onto the terrace. Here in the shade of the fig tree is a delightful place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and an evening meal, whilst watching the sun go down behind the trees.
