About Terry

Our family has lived in Denver for nearly 10 years and my wife is from Los Angeles and I am originally from the Washington DC area (we actually met in Aspen.) Living in Colorado of course means we are fortunate to have access to some of the best skiing in North America and although the skiing is great, the summers in the Rocky Mountains is equally spectacular. Especially in Aspen, the city does a fantastic job of bringing world class events to town (Food & Wine Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Aspen Jazz Festival, Ideas Summit by the Aspen Institute,) and the weather in the summers is simply amazing, sunny days and cool nights.

Our family loves the outdoors and especially the splendor and beauty Colorado has to offer for both young and old.

Terry purchased this condo in 2006

Why Terry chose Aspen

When choosing this property we considered many factors, especially proximity to the gondola/downtown and of course the guest amenities. We wanted to be able to park our cars upon arrival and not get back in it until it was time to go home. In other words, we wanted to be able to walk, or bike, everywhere and although this is an option for several complexes in Aspen, the typical trade off is being 'close in' means you are often in noisy areas where traffic and late night noise can be disturbing factors.

Not the case at Chateau Roaring Fork. Although the complex is less than 3 blocks due east of the gondola, it sits on a cull de sac at the end of East Durant Street (walk down the stairs from the gondola and onto Durant Street, turn right and walk 3 blocks and you are in the parking lot) so it is in very peaceful and quite location.

But the best thing about our unit is that the east facing side directly overlooks the Roaring Fork River, and also overlooks a historical park on the opposite bank that was gifted to the City of Aspen in an Irrevocable Trust, so it can never be developed. When you open up the doors to the river it sounds like you are sitting in it. You would never know you are so close to downtown Aspen.

And talk about quest amenities... this complex has the best pool in Aspen, hands down, and is open year round. It is large and gets great sun all day long (see the pictures in the listing). There are also 2 hot tubs, a fitness center and a picnic area that features a Weber barbecue grill.

What makes this condo unique

Great Pool, Dedicated parking, Free cable, Free high speed wireless internet, Ski locker, Immediate access to the bike trails, Bus stop at complex (E. Cooper Ave.), Easy walking distance to downtown, parks, restaurants and entertainment venues.

The unit is a unique blend of old rustic mountain charm but with modern updates including new audio and video systems (Samsung flat screen, Stereo with DVD Player, Bose i-Pod docking station) new stainless appliances and an updated bathroom and wonderfully comfortable king sized pillow top mattress.

The Perfect Introduction to Aspen

  • 5 of 5

I've wanted to visit Aspen for as long as I can remember, and I couldn't have chosen a better place for our week-long stay. As a fellow VRBO/Homeaway owner, my priority was finding a condo with great guestbook reviews because I know those can't be edited. This condo definitely lives up to its 5-star reviews, and then some.

Location: Such an idyllic spot overlooking the beautiful Roaring Forks River; easy walking distance to downtown Aspen restaurants, shops, grocery store, and ski lifts. Atmosphere: So tastefully decorated; nestled within beautiful trees beside the river; surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. Comfort: My husband and I slept like babies on the comfy king-size bed. As suggested by the owner, we left the balcony door open at night and fell asleep to the sound of the river -- we were completely enamored. Amenities: Modern appliances; amply furnished with kitchen cookware, etc.; comfortable living room furniture; large HD TV (a football game day must for my husband); washer & dryer were great since this was the second week of our Colorado adventure.

The owner was very responsive to all questions and very professional in handling the entire rental transaction. We felt so much at home that we've already booked a return trip for 2017. I heartily recommend this beautiful condo for a great stay in Aspen.

Stay on the Roaring Forks River

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful time in Aspen while stay at the condo located on the Roaring Forks River. It was clean, quaint, superb location, and quiet. We were able to walk into Aspen, hop on the bike trail and do all we wanted to do easily in Aspen. We had at the patio door open whenever we were at the condo to listen to the music of the river.

I was very well satisfied with this condo. Great location, nicely furnished, well equipped, thoughtful extras. So very nice to have the sound of the roaring fork just below the living room window. Comfortable, quiet, within easy reach of everything.

Great location, comfortable bed, cozy fireplace

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend, planning to ski and be out in town most of the time. This was an excellent location. We walked to town every weekend, walked to skiing at Aspen Mountain, had several great nights of sleep (better than home!). Terry was very responsive and made everything easy for us.
