About The Owner

We are 40 somethings who live full time in Hood River, Oregon. We are self employed and run a small video production company and run kids adventure camps in the Columbia Gorge. When we aren't working we take our daughter to the beach where we unwind, surf and eat cinnamon buns at Bread and Ocean. We feel fortunate to live and vacation in such beautiful places. While in Hood River we grow our own food, run our cars on vegetable oil and do what we can to live a simpler life.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2008

Why The Owner chose Northern Coast

We had a dream to own a log cabin one day. When we moved to Oregon the log cabin dream turned into a tree house dream which turned into a yurt on the Oregon coast dream. We didn't plan on buying a house but when we saw our cabin we knew this was the place for us. It was a log cabin, treehouse, yurt all in one! We love the relaxed environment of the Manzanita area and prefer it to the more touristy areas on the coast.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy cooking big breakfasts in the cozy main room and taking morning runs on the Alder Creek Farm trail. Other mornings we'll go to Bread and Ocean for a tasty morning treat and head to Neahkanie Mountain to see what kind of mood the ocean is in. We love day trips down to Oswald West Park where we haul our daughter, our surfboards and snacks for a day at the beach. Oswald is our favorite beach to enjoy with our family. In the evenings we BBQ on the deck at the house and cuddle in front of the fire while we play games and read. We leave the cabin fully restored, rested and grateful.

Loved everything about this log cabin feel. This was the perfect location for the fun we planned for Cannon Beach, Manzanita and inbetween. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need dish/pan/utensil wise. This was the perfect getaway for our family of four. We hope to stay in here again in the future.

Great property, great location.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is cute, kinda yurt-like, and the location is two minutes from main drag Manzanita in a nearby residential zone. Parking lot is a little small, and there's no Wi-Fi, but it was clean, with a great open floor plan upstairs (kitchen/living room). It was chilly when we arrived, and took a little time for it to warm up, but my husband and I snuggled by the gas fireplace, which was very romantic. I would recommend this for a couple, or small family. I loved cooking in that kitchen. Lots of space (comfortable for more than one person) and beautiful stone countertops. Would rent again!

A little oasis!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. We were a little surprised that it was in a suburban neighborhood. From the images, we had the impression that it was going to be more secluded. The windows are place in a way, however, that once you are inside the cabin you feel like you are in the woods.

Cozy yet spatious

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place, it felt cozy and spacious at the same time. The kitchen is well equipped and the sturdy gas burner ready for big productions. Don't plan grand movie nights, the TV is tiny. ;)

Couldn't have been more perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our amazing vacation in Manzanita. We absolutely loved staying in this unique home and will definitely return. Even though the house is in a quiet residential area the heavily treed lot makes you feel like you are in the middle of the forest. You can even hear the ocean which is just a mile or so away. Everything you could need is provided including an album full of maps and listings of area attractions. The gas fireplace is perfect for morning and chilly evenings and heats the place up nicely. If there was one thing that could have made the house more enjoyable it would have been some cheap plastic chairs to use outside on the balcony to drink coffee in the morning. There is an older Adirondack chair but it doesn't seem too sturdy and it was constantly damp while we were there. Again, minor complaint and would in no way deter me from returning.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and recognize the uniqueness of the property. We agree that the chair need to be replaced and will be doing that this spring (2017) We are glad it didn't deter you from enjoying the house. Thanks for the suggestion.

We had an amazing family vacation! The kids loved the cabin feel of the house.

  • 4 of 5

The house had a really fun outdoors feel to it. We were under the impression that the house was closer to the beaches and within walking distance for the kids. We did have to drive, but it was well worth it! There were a lot of private beach accesses. The upstairs of the house was amazing. We will have great memories from our stay! Thanks so much for sharing your unique home with us.
