Kona Coffee Estate Guest Apartment with Ocean and Garden Views
Our estate is situated on the slopes of Mt. Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are located just 15 minutes from the Kona Airport, 10 minutes from the quaint coastal town of Kailua-Kona, 10 minutes from the artists’ village of Holualoa, and also 10 minutes from Costco! We are at a comfortable 1500' elevation and have over 100 producing Kona Coffee trees that we will give you samples of to enjoy during your stay.
Separate from the main house on the estate and above the garage, we offer a private, peaceful, Hawaiian motif 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment with fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, and bamboo floors throughout. There is a 42” flat screen HDTV with multiple channels, free wireless high speed Internet , stereo, CD & DVD player.
There is a queen bed in the bedroom, and a Euro lounge sofa/bed that converts into a 46' x 78' bed (almost full size) in living room, with all linens supplied. The bathroom has a large walk-in tiled shower with plenty of bath and beach towels supplied for your use. The bedroom and kitchen have views overlooking the ocean.
The large sunny living room extends onto your large private lanai through 16' sliding glass doors overlooking the lush gardens & greenbelt. There is a gas BBQ, and table and chairs on the lanai. Watch the native birds and the occasional wild pigs stroll by!
The unit is perfect for 1 couple +, maximum 4 persons (check convertible bed size), but not suitable for small children. Overall square footage, including lanai is 816 sq. ft. It is not handicap accessible as there are stairs up to the apartment.
You are also welcome to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktails in the gazebo overlooking the estate and Pacific Ocean, or reserve a time in the hot tub after a long day of activities.
There are coin-op laundry facilities available for your use in the apartment. Beach chairs, cooler, and umbrella are also available for your use.
Kailua-Kona has several world renowned events, including the Ironman Triathlon in October, and the International Billfishing Tournament in August, along with ongoing outdoor athletic events. There is lots to do on the Big Island. You can fish, surf, snorkel, scuba dive, kayak, swim with the dolphins, golf, see an active volcano, hike, bike, and star gaze at an observatory.
This accommodation is an extension of our estate’s pride of ownership. We want you to make yourselves at home and treat it with the respect you would your own home.

We moved from California to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1986. We love the slower paced island lifestyle, weather, and water activities. We have traveled extensively and would love to share what we think is one of the most beautiful places in the world with you.
Donna purchased this apartment in 1998
Having lived at various other locations on the Kona Coast, we found our dream property 17 years ago and call it 'our final resting place'. Our 1 acre coffee estate is situated at a perfect elevation, which offers a bit cooler temperature than at sea level. It is in a rural, quieter area, yet still just minutes away from town and the beach.
On site owners/managers, private, peaceful, with all the comforts of home. Bird watching right from your own private lanai!
Martin, Jana, and baby Sophia were wonderful guests! They were friendly, communicative, and left the apartment in very clean condition. We would highly recommend them, and welcome them back again!
What a delightful, modern furnished apartment this was! Set up the hill from Kona where the air was cooler, it was a great place to escape the tourist ships and busy city below. We loved the large deck where we ate our meals and ventured down to the lookout to view the sunset. Our hosts thought of everything, including comfortable beach chairs, umbrella and cooler to make easy picnics. We loved it!
IIRC this was our 7th trip to the Big Island, first time staying here (2/6-2/15/16) instead of down ocean front. Very nice change of pace. The apartment is very well built, nicely and tastefully decorated and apportioned. Didn't use it but appreciated seeing a gas not electric range in the amply supplied kitchen!
Agree with other review directions detailed and accurate but finding the left turn up the drive was a challenge the first night in the dark (and rain!) but after that piece of cake.
Only real niggle (mild complaint) would be no bathroom fan just window. Turns into a sauna totally steaming up mirror and walls etc. taking showers lol. Wouldn't stop us from staying here again.
Great ocean views from kitchen and bedroom, would have been nice if apartment had been built "flipped" 180 so lanai was ocean side but knew that going in. Short walk down the stairs and across the parking to Gazebo great ocean views as described. No not like staying feet above the waves as had been our norm, but excellent panoramic view. And a fair trade from staying close in the hustle and bustle in a condo crowded with neighbors and noise etc. Except for the wildlife noises here of course, which personally I enjoy. (Even the rooster early in the mornings :-)
All in all a quality home away from home at a fair price.
The condo was exactly as described in the listing. It was very spacious and comfortable for our party of two travelers. Very clean, lovely and cozy, coming back at the end of each day's adventures felt like coming home. The property is conveniently located close to the airport, activities and the bustle of the commercial areas, but it is off the beaten path enough to feel you are in a quiet and peaceful corner of the island. Donna and Rob were very communicative and responsive. We thank them for sharing this gem!
My husband and I stayed at this rental for 4 nights. The location is just perfect for those wanting to be away from the tourists but not so far where it is inconvenient. Being on the mountain, you could enjoy the cool mountain breezes while looking at the ocean from afar. The rental itself was clean and good sized with all the amenities you would need. It was also very private even though the unit was over the garage at the main house. My only complaint if I had any was the wildlife can get quite loud at night... like the coqui frogs or sometimes wild roosters. Overall I would definitely recommend this rental to couples or individuals that can climb stairs as the unit is on the second floor.
We had a short stay in Kona for a friend's wedding. We found this apartment available and quickly reserved it based on it's description. It was exactly as described and we were delighted to find a comfortable, beautiful home away from home. We were greeted by Robbie who gave us a brief overview of our place and made us feel welcome. We loved the quiet of the estate at night (the chickens and night creatures were soothing) and it was definitely cooler than along the coast. We want to return for a longer visit. On a side note-I left an Aloha shirt there and Donna and Robbie called us at the airport to let us know and mailed it to our home immediately. Mahalo!
My husband and I stayed at the rental for 8 nights. We really enjoyed all the adventures the island has to offer, and the rental was the perfect place to unwind after a long day of sun and fun. The roosters do provide an early morning wake up call, but we kinda liked the sounds of nature vs. alarm clock. The unit is appointed with everything for 2 people, including towels, soap, dishes, ect. Very clean and comfortable. The grill and patio was great for a dinner at "home". We would definitely stay here again. The owners make everything very easy.
Active volcano viewing, star gazing.
