Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for my daughter's wedding in Muscle Shoals in January. The house was perfect for our extended family & some of the wedding party! We had ages 1 Year to 70 and the two kitchens/living areas allowed for the younger ones to have their own space! The view was beautiful and Noelle was great & a pleasure to work with!

Great potential, but...

  • 3 of 5

I now understand why there are so little pictures of this place. The interior was blah and uninviting at best. It looked like it was furnished with furniture acquired from garage sales and craigslist. The house has tile floors throughout, but an occasional throw rug or something would have been nice. The pictures provided do not reflect the current status of the house. The picture of the upstairs kitchen shows chairs at the bar, a nice table and chairs with a plant on top. What was actually there was NO CHAIRS at the bar and 2 Rubbermaid tables pushed together with folding chairs around them. The downstairs kitchen also does not reflect the actual status. There was a larger table with 8 mismatched chairs, which actually suited our group better, but again...not as was advertised. The bedrooms sort of made me feel like I was in the service again living in barracks. The house overall was not inviting at all. We had a group of 7 50+ year old professional men staying and it was a 7 for 7 that thought the house lacked. The outside porch nice. Noelle was very pleasant to deal with. But for the price of the stay per day which included the taxes and the 'cleaning fee', I and the rest of the guys expected something more.

I hope they update their pictures to reflect the current status of the house. Like I stated, I see why they only had 2 pictures of the inside of the house, both being the kitchens. The signs were there when no other pictures were offered. Consider another location if you are in the area.

Owner's Response: Oh no!! I didn't realize the pictures were so outdated. I will certainly update them to reflect the current furniture. I am so sorry you were disappointed. We felt the new furnishings were an upgrade, owing to the large groups we are housing. The smaller folding table in the main kitchen and the downstairs kitchen table would only seat 4, and many groups are 10-14. I will find out what happened to the barstools - I didn't realize they were missing.

You won't find a better place for the money! Stop trying. I recently stayed at the "House Next Door" and it immediately became on of my favorite vacation destinations. The square footage is unreal. So many places for kids/teens to hang out so that no one ever feels crowded. The house is situated on a very peaceful cove, but only a few hundred yards from the TN River. The owners, Ken and Noel are so cool and accommodating! Really enjoyed hanging out and talking with them. We will stay with them again. This is the best bag for your buck in Northeast Mississippi/Northwest Alabama. If your lucky enough to find an open date on the calendar, you'd better book it quick. You won't be disappointed.

Just returned from three days of paradise. We were looking for peace and quiet. We found it here. This is the second time I have stayed at this location. I have stayed in a lot of places, including Gulf Shores, but I don't think I have ever stayed anywhere that was so peaceful and relaxing. It isn't the Hilton, but it pretty darn nice with lots of room. The options are endless for things to do,from fishing to playing golf and site seeing. Personally I would give this place a 10 in ranking. The owner is so easy to work with and ready to assist you any way she can. Will come back again but for a longer stay next time.

Great Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house and the lake! We brought our boat and kept it docked at the property. The water is perfect with very little boat traffic in front of the dock so it was a great place to swim and leave the boat. The house is very accomodating with two kitchen areas and multiple sleeping areas. Our family, and dog, had a great time and we look forward to coming back!

Just returned from one of the most relaxing vacations at this wonderful home. With three levels, it made it very comfortable to house my entire family without anyone giving up their privacy/comfort level. It was like being on vacation & my kids stopping by each day to see me!!! Housed my daughter & 18 month old granddaughter upstairs, we were on the 2nd level & had my 17 year old & his friend in the downstairs apt which they loved because they felt like they had their own place. Also had several day guests & no matter how many were there, we never felt crowded! House is very clean, well kept & well stocked. Walk to water is short with plenty of fish to catch right off the pier. Nice & quiet & not far from dining, grocery stores, etc. I would definitely recommend this home, especially for a large group/family. I promise you will not be disappointed. We hated to leave yesterday & are already planning our next trip there!!!
