I am taking my time to write this because I am really disappointed, we book 2 nights in Bahia Delfin in San Carlos, Sonora the weekend of august 12 to August 15 2016. We got there late around 5:40 pm and the security people have a horrible customer service, the man that was there ask me "who are you", I told him my name and he say give me your id, he not even ask for it, next to that we were 2 cars and I know that only one can stay the night at the parking (inside), but we need it to take things inside and he told us if you want to pass that car is $100.00 dlls CASH !!! I told him that the car have some things inside that we where just taking out and he say well is $100.00 dlls again and I told him that I wanted to talk with his manager, he got scared and let the other car pass about 20 min.
The master bed was all sandy, I pass a horrible night, and I took a shower because I didn't want sand in my bed and how lucky there was sand all over. I heaved to take the sheets out and wash them at 10 pm.
Another thing that happen is that the security guy told us we were being really loud and that he was going to give him a ticket for 100 dlls I told him go ahead and he say he was going to act like he was giving me one ....
They try to charge us for stupid things and I think the people that works there try to take avenge of you, they even try to charge me for requesting taxis and let them pass inside.
I am really mad I will never book with this people again. be careful.
This condo met our two requirements: clean & updated. Spacious, well maintained and great location, quiet, on San Francisco Beach, set back, sliding glass door in living area opens onto a small covered patio, then long stretch of grass then sand. Convenient to have washer & dryer and all amenities of home including beach chairs, flat screen TV, etc. A/C in master bedroom was very noisy, otherwise very comfortable. Owner Scott responds to email very quickly. We will stay at this condo unit again for our next visit.
Sea of Cortez water is very warm, not much waves, perfect. Bring a snorkel. Good restaurants a short drive from Bahia Delfin property. Hammer Heads, then a bit further is Bonafacio's Cotton Club, La Salsa & Soggy Peso. Bring a few cases of your own bottled water, you can bring your water to restaurants. People that work at restaurants, farmacia & stores spoke very little English, so bring a translator/electronic or brush up on your Espanol. This never posed a problem as you can find a way to communicate. Most establishments/stores/gas station, etc request pesos. You can easily exchange USD at local bank (with your passport ID), or use credit card.
My husband and 2 sons chartered a small boat from the marina with 2 guys & went fishing for four hours. We agreed on $75 USD per hour.
A lovely vacation destination, great beaches, we felt safe and look forward to returning!
I took my daughter and 4 grand-kids (ages 10-16) for their first trip to San Carlos, first trip to Mexico for the grand-kids. We originally planned on just two nights but after seeing the condo and the beach area they all wanted to stay longer. Scott, the owner was very helpful in extending our stay. The condo was beautifully decorated and comfortable. We are already planning the next trip there!
San Carlos is wonderful. Delfin is totally chill. The condo itself is nice, bottom floor, close to parking. Furniture & beds were OK, plenty of room. It was not as clean as I would have liked; a few long (& a few short) black hairs in the bathrooms. When we first checked in, we noticed several faucets only had either hot or cold water working. We looked under the sinks & discovered they had turned off the valve to the faucet because as we discovered, they leaked when the valves were on, so their solution was to just turn the valves off. This is fine except when guests arrive, they are left to discover & resolve these things on their own. The day before we arrived, we called to see if we could extend by one day. It was available & the process was easy. During that call, he said the dishwasher had broken & was being fixed but might not be working when we got there. I said that was a problem because we're a family of six & go through a lot of dishes & it would be quite inconvenient to hand wash & dry everything each day. He said they were working on it & he would let me know. I texted him the day after we got there & explained again that it really needed to be fixed. He said the condo is actually his in-laws (excuse #1) & that he let them know. He said they had to seek help outside of Delfin staff (excuse #2). I said, please let me know ASAP. I never heard back from him the entire rest of the trip & I got really good at hand washing dishes :). In the evening of the day we checked out, I texted Scott & asked if everything looked OK to return the deposit. It was then he told me that a technician had entered the condo & fixed the dishwasher three days prior!! He must have come while we were at the beach or sailing. Imagine the frustration of knowing that we sat through two plus days of hand washing dishes when all he had to do was let us know that it had been fixed!! Over the next few days, as I waited for Scott to return the deposit, I invited him to propose a resolution to this problem. His idea of a resolution was to tell me that it was really hard to get repairs & to communicate in Mexico (excuse #3). He also said that he got really good reviews from other guests (excuse #4). Excuses are not resolutions. I've lived in latin american countries & if you're purposeful & clear, you can get the information you need, especially in business matters. Anyway, great place, hopefully you have no issues that require attentive owners. Hope I get my deposit back
Its such a nice place to spend your vacations! all the neighbors are so friendly, really nice service there is not one bad thing to say about this Bahia delfin, everything is just perfect! I loved it!
....except over the Easter holidays. Try to avoid Easter if you can. Otherwise you will find the owners very accessible and accommodating via email as they are on top of any fine tuning issues. Our stay was almost three months. The unit is quite comfortable and everything worked well and the grounds is quite well maintained. The thin sound proofing between units only became an issue when Easter filled up all the units with tons of little kids. In a week it was back to normal. Guaymas is the ground zero for the Mexican shrimp industry so the huge shrimp can be had at the waterfront and very inexpensive- this really was a fun part of being here in this area. The shopping in San Carlos (pop5K) is for emergencies only but Guaymas, 15 minutes away has it all....very easy to get to several huge markets. San Carlos does have several (we found 8) GREAT restaurants. We recommend this unit as a good value and fun friendly place to stay.
