Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 5-10)

An executive, Non-Smoking, country-style home right on the north shore of Lake Erie in a rural setting on Argyle Beach.

We limit the number of overnight guests to a maximum of 10 to ensure that our guests will feel comfortable during their precious vacation. As we enjoy having a large family ourselves we know what is important when you spend time together. And that is space. Space where you can be by yourself if you feel like it. And enough space for everyone to get together. Many rental places offer sleeping facilities for 10 guests, but the dining room table inside the house is only large enough to seat four comfortably or six “squashed together”. Our dining table is approx. 110cm wide x 223 cm long (43 in. x 88 in) There are also two extensions for the ends that each add another 50 cm (20 in.) in length.

Needless to say that we offer similar seating options outside.

We have not only received positive feedback from family reunions, wine tasting clubs and quilting groups. What we like most is when families tell us how much their children enjoyed the beach and the Lake.

Discover Southwestern Ontario and its heritage vineyards, National Park sites, and conservation areas. From spring (migration of songbirds) to fall (spectacle of monarch butterflies migrating to Mexico) there is always something to do or see.

The fellas and I have had our getaway weekend here 3 years running. next year it'll be 4.the garden was breathtaking this year. the bench is perfectly positioned to view the lake. the entire property is comfortable. this weekend is so good we are torn as to whether to bring the wives or not. They'd enjoy it so much, It'd be the end of our weekend...

Absolutely Stunning!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just rented this property for the weekend for a bachelorette party and it was so beautiful. The inside of the home is exceptionally clean, with a well stocked kitchen and lots of room to roam. The grounds are breathtaking with several chairs to enjoy and fire.

I highly recommend this property and would rent again in the future.

Beautiful House and Beach

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property many times and really enjoy it. We've rented many cottages and and have a broad range of experiences to compare this with.

This property is very spacious and well appointed. The dining room has a large table to seat a big group, and the kitchen has everything we've needed for cooking. There are two living room areas, and the back porch is very spacious- there are several tables for eating and many places to sit.

Our favourite part of the cottage is the outdoor space- the back porch, beautiful lawn and garden, and most of all the beach. There is a beautiful private beach year after year, and we spend most of our days enjoying it. The depth (width?) of the beach varies from year to year; this year there was at least 25' of sand from the lawn to the water. Anyone expecting more than this should probably go to Sauble (and put their towel down a few inches from the next person).

Inside the cottage there have always been plenty of towels and linens, and we always find the cottage clean on arrival. The photos on the website are an accurate representation of the house. The house has a main floor bedroom and bath which makes it perfect for a two-family group, or for people who don't want to contend with stairs. (There are 4-5 stairs to enter the cottage and several to the beach.) We have noticed a crane on the beach more times than we have noticed the permanent resident above the garage- have never heard and seldom seen him.

The cottage is only a few minutes from several wineries (and I suppose there are other things to see, but that's enough for us)! Highly recommend Erie Shores Vineyard just out on County Rd. 50. The area is safe, quiet, and nice for walking in the evening. It's a great spot to Kayak or paddle; the water is often very calm in the mornings.

Year after year we've continued to enjoy Argyle beach and this fantastic house!

If you like to sleep on rocks this house is for you!

The view is beautiful but that is about all this house has going for it. The pictures of the beach are very deceiving. There is not much of a beach at all. The beds were so hard that we actually left a day early because no one could get a good nights sleep. Also, there is a tenant that lives above the garage that we did not even know about until about a week before we left for vacation. I would not recommend this house!

Owner's Response: We were quite surprised and disappointed about this review. This specific guest had three complaints: 1. “The beds were so hard…”. The question of whether beds are hard or soft is ultimately a very subjective matter. In the past, one guest let us know that he thought the beds were too soft. We have also had other guests tell us that the beds were perfect for people with back problems. By the way: there are additional mattress pads in the linen closets as well as very thick, fluffy quilts that could easily have been used to achieve a “pillow top effect”. We would have pointed this out, if we had been informed when this guest first noticed that there was a problem with the beds. 2. “The pictures of the beach are very deceiving. There is not much of a beach at all.” How much beach there is at any specific time depends on the water levels as well as on recent storms and wave action. This year the water levels in Lake Erie are well above average – for the first time since the late nineties. This year, many beaches are almost non-existent or endangered by erosion. The pictures on our website reflect the average situation over the last 15 years. There have been lots of reports on the current water levels in the Great Lakes in the media. We are very pleased that we still have a beach – unlike many other people on the water. 3. “…there is a tenant that lives above the garage that we did not even know about…” On our VRBO website is a section called „More Information“ . If you follow the “Click here” you are forwarded to our website, which provides the FAQs. They include information about the permanent resident over the garage. The permanent resident is also mentioned on the “Description” page on our website. In conclusion, we would like to point out that we have a very large number of repeat guests, groups who come every summer or who have stayed at the house two to three times a year for years (and who have also slept in the beds without complaint!).

great weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house was very nice enjoyed my weekend stay with a friend and my daughter. Being it was spring it was very peaceful. We loved the view of the water while sitting next to the gas fireplace. Their was plenty of pots and pans to make wonderful dinners. There are plenty of wineries to try near by was quite surprised.
