Guestbook comments from the manager

Hi Edward,

We had another great time when we stayed last June in your cabin/home. The place is perfect for our boys with the creek on the property. It is also very convenient to have the town nearby but yet be far enough away to feel like you are secluded. The house is well kept and we will be back to enjoy the mountains and outdoor activities. Thanks and take care.

Wonderful Cabin and Location

  • 5 of 5

Great location, great cabin and very good owners. Lights were left on for us upon arrival as we entered when dark. Sound of stream is very loud which was fantastic! Not a small stream in front of cabin. Very clean and well equipped inside. Parking and turnaround was very good. Elevation of this cabin was very nice as you could feel the cooler air. We recommend taking a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway which is only about 20 minutes from the cabin - incredible views.

Loved this house!

  • 4 of 5

There for the weekend and wish we could have stayed longer. Had the driveway been easier to handle would have given this 5 stars. Still a great place to stay when visiting WCU

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you love our home as much as we do! They are building a new log cabin above us on our mountain. It is our understanding that after construction is complete our road will be improved. Meanwhile we drive in and out all the time with out difficulty

Great Time in Sylva

  • 5 of 5

It's time for our next vacation so I'm reviewing our previous vacation at Bold Rushing Creek ten months ago. I tried two times to publish a review using my ipad but each time it crashed. Sorry Ed and Patti!

We had a wonderful time at Bold Rushing Creek and appreciated the paved road and parking by the creek (the driveway is steep for a Floridian). Our boys got up early and explored the mountain and spent a lot of their time on the island with the creek running on both sides. We had a day or two when it rained so we went to the small theater in Sylva (about a 10 minute drive) and watched the new Star Wars Movie and explored the small downtown area afterwards. All the site seeing and hiking is close by and coming back to the cabin at the end of the day and sitting by the fireplace was a prefect way to end a day of adventure.

If you are seeking an adventurous vacation or just want to get away to the mountains, I highly recommend this Bold Rushing Creek Cabin.

Mountain Home Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We stayed during the week of Christmas and were impressed with everything.

The location is perfect, close to everything you may need (i.e. WalMart) and yet far enough away to not be bothered by anything!

The sounds from the creek at the bottom of the hill elevated the tranquil atmosphere. Our (2) young sons enjoyed walking across the bridge to the small island. They said this was "nature at its' best!"

We spent our lazy afternoons out on the porch/balcony playing cards/games and enjoyed the warmth from the fireplace.

The house is fully stocked with essentials and then some. The manager, Kathy, is helpful beyond words. The owner and manager made themselves completely accessible and were eager to assist with any requests (we needed baking sheets to make cookies for Santa and they were on the counter when we arrived)!

The home is spacious. The grounds plentiful and beautiful.

We look forward to returning one day!

Off the beaten path...But still close to everything....

  • 4 of 5

Took my 87 yr old Mother to see the fall leaves.. Cabin was clean and very comfortable. 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom in the 2nd br. Decks and view of creek were wonderful.. Kitchen was very well equipped. Would stay again.. However if you have Kids or an older person both bedrms are down a flight of stairs. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family.

Owner's Response: We are pleased you enjoyed our well equipped kitchen as much as we do. The views of the creek from both decks are always appreciated by everyone. The stairs to our bedrooms below are carpeted, have a comfortable landing and substantial handrails. Folks of all ages can easily navigate our stairway without difficulty.

Ideal for parents visiting their student(s) at nearby WCU campus.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin to attend open house at nearby Western Carolina University. The cabin was a short 20 minutes from campus. After a busy day of touring the campus, we were able to relax on the porches and/or sit on a stump in the middle of the island in the river below. The view, complete with sound effects, was amazing and was enjoyed by the whole family. My husband, who is usually ready to leave before we ever reach our destination, didn't want to leave! The owner was quick to respond to inquiries and the manager with very helpful as well. Our family looks forward to renting this cabin again over the next 4 years.
