The house is on the middle branch of the Westfield River in Middlefield Mass. The river is 25 steps from the large backporch. The river is perfect for splashing around in! Enjoy the evenings relaxing in the large, comfortable living room watching a movie by a fire . There is a great DVD library to choose from or go 'old school' and listen to some records. My husband and I are both teachers in Connecticut. We have 3 girls ages 11, 10 & 7 who love to go to the country to play in the river, swing on the tire swing, make art, play games & watch movies.
Jennifer Brush purchased this house in 2008
My husband's family has owned a house in this area for over 50 years. There is something remarkable about the area every season of the year.
We love to swim in the river, go for hikes in the woods, ride our bikes, play in the yard, set up our tent & sit by the fire and star-gaze at night. We love to share our house with our family & friends.
This cozy home in the woods is a delightful getaway for nature lovers. A meandering river, birds, and thousands of stars in the night sky await you. There's a working fireplace inside and plenty of movies. Suitable for families and romantic couples alike. The nearby town, while not large, was charming and had some interesting dining options.
The details: Listing was accurate, property well-maintained, good customer service, I'd recommend to others.
We stayed at this place with our two toddlers (2.5 yr old and 1 yr old). The house has everything you need for little kids: toys, books, kids movies, high chair, pack and play etc. My kids loved to play in the water, and there're plenty of floats for everyone! We also loved sitting by the river, very relaxing! Also the DVD library is fantastic! Loved this place, thank you for having us!
We booked this house for a girls weekend to celebrate our friends upcoming wedding. The house was adorable and had everything we needed. It was so nice and refreshing to be away from everything! The river in the backyard was such a treat. If it hadn't rained we might have spent the whole weekend in it! Highly recommended for a getaway in nature.
we had a fantastic stay at this home! The house was spacious comfortable and clean. The outside space was amazing, the photos do not do it justice. Great response time and access to the owner of the home. Would have liked wireless internet to help us navigate the area but the access to the homes land line helped us coordinate with other family staying in the area. Overall a great stay!
My husband, our teenage daughter, our son and daughter-in-law and two young granddaughters stayed for two nights in this lovely house. It looked, felt and smelled clean and fresh, with nice towels and linens and comfy furniture. We loved being right on the river with total privacy. We had the best time just splashing around in the water which was cold and clear and quite shallow. Glendale Falls is five minutes away. It is a beautiful spot and a nice hike, doable even with a four-year-old and a two-year-old. The fire pit on the property was great for a night of marshmallow roasting and star-gazing. We went to Stockbridge to the Rockwell Museum on our last day. It takes about 45 minutes to get there, but it's a lovely, scenic ride. The house was a perfect setting for a relaxed, enjoyable few days together. Thanks for sharing it!
Great little house in the back country. Very quiet and peaceful. We had a lot of fun floating on the river, checking out Glendale falls and bluberry picking. It gets very very dark at night - don't arrive after dark.
This house is a great home base- Art museums, Shaker Museum and Norman Rockwell museum, Mt. Greylock, restaurants & theatre in Pittsfield, waterslides & Magic Wings Butterfly museum for the kids - all about 30-45 minutes from the house. Or you can never leave the house, relax & enjoy the sights & sounds of nature- very private!!
