VRBO Bear stayed here:
I was very happy to stay in this beautiful home in the lovely city of Austin, Texas for a long weekend. The home is centrally located, just a couple minutes from downtown. I could crawl right down the street to a number of shops, bars and restaurants (there is so much to do nearby this home!). I was also able to make my way down to the nearby Town Lake Trail for a morning jog.
Austin is a wonderful city filled with so much to see and do. In addition to everything within walking distance of the home, there were many greenbelts and nature areas to make a bear feel right at home. If you like the night life, you'll find clubs and theaters within easy driving distance. If you're a history buff, Austin is filled with many historic sites, from the state capitol to The University of Texas. Or, if you would rather relax, the home has a very nice porch and balcony that you can sit on while you enjoy the beautiful weather. I cannot wait to make a return visit to this gorgeous Garden Street house.

Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: I bought the Garden St. House is 2001 and renovated it. It was built in 1912 and was quite the project. I vaulted the ceilings and opened up the left side of the house making arches and adding colorful walls. The original but now polished and beautiful pine floors are throughout the house. I have 2 other houses in Austin as well, and take great care and pride in keeping all the houses clean, running efficiently and well maintained. I love this house and have lived here since 2001. I do travel quite a bit and so rent out my home. Enjoy your stay!
Why the Owner Chose East Austin, Austin, TX, USA:
This is a wonderful house because of the nearby parks, lake and its close access to downtown, 6th street and everything cool! It was built in 1912 and has original wood floors, which I found during renovation after peeling up layers of carpet, vinyl and tar paper. House has been updated and transformed. Bold colors complement the various rooms of the 1700 square foot house as well as high ceilings, all with a comfortable 'you are at home' feel. The kitchen is large great for gatherings. I just had to purchase this property, because of its big porch and good bones. I've made it into a very beautiful place that I share with you.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The big covered front porch of the downstairs house reminds me of the slower simpler days of the early 1900's when neighbors used to spend alot of time outside drinking lemonade to stay cool in the hot Austin summers, waving to neighbors and enjoying the occasional rainstorm while sitting under the protected large porch. Don't worry, we have central AC/Heat to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter...but you can still enjoy the rain and wave to the neighbors on this wonderful porch. Thank you for visiting my Garden St. House. Hopefully we'll see you here soon!
