About Roberta Woodmansee

I am from the Northwest, but have traveled extensively as I am an ex Pan Am stewardess. I enjoy sharing my part of the world with others and am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your holiday a special one.

Roberta Woodmansee purchased this house in 2000

Why Roberta Woodmansee chose Puget Sound South

There is something about being on the water and watching the wildlife that is very calming. I love living here and find that when I am on the water my blood pressure seems to go down and I feel a sense of serenity.

What makes this house unique

The views from the house are spectacular. I especially like the kite surfers and the sail boat regatta on Wednesday night. Fine dining is just a short walk away. There is a great pub to meet locals and drink micro beers and an elegant restaurant that attracts people from Seattle and Tacoma

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a hidden treasure. It is better than the photos on VRBO. We hope to come back ,and would love to stay at your place again. Loved being on the water and all the marine wildlife, sailboats, and ships were great

wonderful location, charming landlord, great experience

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful, calming and tranquil location along with a very helpful ( not hovering) landlord made our stay absolutely perfect. Four old high school classmates rented this getaway for four days in June also to attend Roger Waters concert at Tacoma Dome. Fantastic restaurants within short drive. Would highly recommend this location/landlord. Couldn't have been any better.

Darling Romantic Beachfront Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at this property. The property is in a gorgeous neighborhood. The owner, Roberta was friendly and helpful. Her house is at the top of the stairs which lead down to the beach house. The house was spotless and had a lovely deck to sit and watch the sunsets with the water lapping at the shore beneath the deck when the tide was in. There were seals in the water swimming by and they were fun to watch. A recent storm had broken the ladder leading down to the water, so we were unfortunately not able to try the kayaks. There are two flights of narrow stairs leading down to the house, so I would not recommend it for anyone who can't negotiate stairs, but it was no problem for us.

The property is one block from the Brown's Point Lighthouse where there is a nice park where you can get to the water. The beach is made of large pebbles, not sandy, so it was nice to have the paths there to walk on. We met the lady from the historical society who gave us a tour of the lighthouse-keepers cottage. It was very entertaining and she was very nice and welcoming. Gig Harbor was a short drive (20 minutes) where we spent a nice day riding the trolley, shopping and having lunch. We went to Point Defiance Park which was beautiful and had dinner at Anthony's there. Downtown Seattle was about a 40 min drive.

There is a market and a neighborhood diner just around the corner. The Brown's Point Diner had good hamburgers and eggs Benedict for breakfast. We cooked a few breakfasts for ourselves.

I would definitely recommend this property to a couple for a romantic getaway. There are two bedrooms, but the living room is small for more than two people. I would definitely go back again if we were to revisit the area.

The location is magical and the folks who own it are great.

It is very private and beautiful, the sea is a constant, indoors and out, and the sky is huge.

Marine life, kayaks, birds, a whole variety of boats stream past and the Olympics lie silhouetted beyond.

It is very comfortable. A real treat.

The view was stunning the property was right on the water

  • 2 of 5

Fair, Roberta did tell me in advance that the wifi was intermittent and it was at best, and when I read past reviews they stated the same problem, yet she lists wifi as an amenity.

I can also vouch that those sheets in the master are NOT 400 ct. Egyptian anything. They were regular cotton/poly sheets. The house could definitely use some clean up and some work. The bathrooms had black mold and needed cleaning. None of the bathroom doors locked, the toilet seats are all lose, the master bedding has a blanket that everyone uses, no duvet cover that is washed in between. Lots of dust. Did not find the kitchen "high end", with a microwave on the counter from the 80's. I seriously think your VRBO description needs to be re-done and correctly detailed. Outside of the magnificent view the place itself lacked a lot of luster. Especially what was listed on the site.

Also use of kayaks is listed as an amenity but there really is no beach access, but even if u get into the water ALL the flotation devices were rotted. Thus unusable.

Owner's Response: I was quite surprised at this review. I have no idea what this guest had in mind. The son was very happy and told me how much he loved the property so I am not sure how to respond except I feel her assessment was exaggerated, Black mold is a serious health hazard and I was shocked that she found it present in the bathroom. Consequently I had the the house inspected and no black mold was found anywhere in the house. As to her other claims I feel that just like the black mold she saw everything from a different perspective than most guests. Unfortunately we had very little communication so if she had made me aware of her concerns perhaps we could have resolved things amicably.
