Fantastic Location, awesome house!
Lindsay and Ferdinand’s house in Delft is in an amazing location, just a moments walk from the main square, with a view of the canal.
The kitchen is very well stocked and the house is well laid out.
A point to note as of many houses in holland the stairs are very steep. In addition the kitchen, bathroom and two of the three bedrooms are also up stairs that are not fully enclosed (ie you can see through the back of each step).
Overall though the house is superb and communications with the owners was great!
This is a very special property with many steps. Loved the top floor bedroom for the size and view, but quite noisy at times. Fully furnished and comfortable. Only 4 of us but could sleep 6. Toilet is a problem for the bottom bedroom. My complaint is not with the property but withVRBO. I was charged an exorbitant booking fee with nothing useful from vrbo. I questioned the booking fee. No response from VRBO. Better booking agencies available for less or no fee.
Brilliant location in the very heart of Old Delft
This 3 storey maisonette is located on an old traditional canal in the very centre of Delft. The market square, New Church and Old Church are all within a couple of minutes walk. Shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars are all around. Delft has everything you need for a relaxing city break style holiday. We stayed for 4 days which is just about perfect. Amsterdam is an hour away by train and Delft station is less then 10 minutes walk from the property.
There are 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and a twin) and there is potential for another double on a sofa bed in the lounge area. The building is full of charm and character and it is very easy to imagine a wealthy 17th century merchant living there.
We parked in the Phoenix Car Park - a council run underground car park. The pricing policy is very unclear and we thought it might be 30 euros a day but at the end of our 4 days we paid 64 euros in total. The car park is no more than 3 minutes walk from the property. We didn't feel the need to use our car in the 4 days we were there.
Being super critical it should be mentioned that the stairs in the house are very steep and wouldn't suit older or less mobile people. The kitchen is well equipped but only had one wine glass and no bread knife. But this really is nit picking - I'd give it 5 stars all day long!
Thank you for the review and glad to hear you had a wonderful stay. The house indeed has its special charm and when we lived there for four years before we had children I loved every minute!
We use French tumblers as wine glasses (the traditional wine glass must have come in from a pub somehow!) but good to hear all feedback so we can catch the stuff that need attention - bread knife on the list! Thank you :)
Nice an cozy old House in the Centre f Delft
Befor we arrived we received all important information for our arrival (parking, openig times, wifi, heating etc.) The House is really nice and cozy. It has 3 floors with 2 toilets and one bathroom. The best room in the house is definitely th kitchen, it is quite spacious and there is large table for 7 adults. We spend nice and cozy evenings there. Also the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Furthermore you have a Terrace on the backside of the house where you have sun during the day.
Ferdinand the renter came around one evening to ask if everything is ok and if we need something. He was really nice and welcoming. His wife Lindsay was also great. She send me all information for the house via Mail and answered quickly when we ask for somehting.
Towels and Bedding were perfectly good, so you do not need to bring something. There are also some infromation about Delft, Rotterdam and Den Haag in the Kitchen. It contains Maps, some Culture Guides for Museum or Botanic Garden, Information about the History of Delft, Restaurants and so on.
The house is in the Centre of Delft at a small canal. It is close to the shops and the market. It's about 10 minutes to the Main station.
We were 7 adults and we stayed for 3 nights. It was a really good time and we can definitey recommend the house.
Thanks for the fantastic review! Very pleased you had a great time. For us, actually the main advantage of letting out our house to holiday makers / visitors to Delft is to share the house experience. Sounds strange, but there's just something charming about it... So pleased you loved it :)
Access via own front door.
Great shopping. Tram to the beach. Bike rides to the country. 94 restaurants within walking distance.
