Double bed holiday cottage with open plan living room with beautiful views
Mark and Moya Hollingworth
About Mark and Moya Hollingworth
we moved to the North York Moors from West Yorkshire with a view to semi-retirement in this beautiful area, having already successfully run holiday cottages in the area for many years. On purchasing Postgate Farm we started to convert some of the old farm buildings to provide luxury self catering accommodation on site. Living in the farm house next door means we can be on hand to help guests with their stay, but we aim to leave visitors to enjoy their own private space.
Mark and Moya Hollingworth purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Mark and Moya Hollingworth chose Glaisdale
We discovered the North York Moors while travelling to our former holiday cottage on the coast at Staithes. When the opportunity came along to move our family home we looked for a property in a rural area which would give us the opportunity to develop further holiday cottages which we could manage from our own home. We discovered Postgate Farm located in Glaisdale Dale just outside Glaisdale village. The Dale is a beautiful, peaceful setting around a mile from the village of Glaisdale, with a thriving community and various amenities such as village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court and the Robinson Institute, home of the renowned Esk Valley Theatre Company. The village has a railway station and is served by local bus routes. As well as now being our happy family home, we have now converted some of the former barns to provide luxury self-catering holiday accommodation.
What makes this Cottage unique
Postgate Farm is set in a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning views to the South over Glaisdale Dale. The Dale itself is served by just one road which means very little traffic, yet is only a mile from the village of Glaisdale and all its amenities. Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, with stunning walks and cycling avaiable without even getting in your car. A little further afield are other parts of the North York Moors, with pretty villages such as Goathland, Grosmont, Egton, Lealholm, Rosedale Abbey and Egton Bridge just a few minutes drive or a healthy hike away, or by using the picturesque Esk Valley Railway, which runs from Whitby to Middlesborough, and also connects to the famous North York Moors Railway, complete with steam trains, connecting to Pickering . The towns of Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors, and Whitby on the coast are less then half an hours drive away and can also be accessed by rail as mentioned above. York and Scarborough lie approximately 60 minutes drive from Glaisdale. Whether you want to see the beauty of the North York Moors with its expansive moorlands and hidden valleys or the stunning Cleveland coastline, Glaisdale is an ideal base for your stay.

Ideal peaceful retreat
Lived up to expectations. All we needed for a peaceful week away. Excellent walking country. Cottage in superb setting. Would recommend.
A very warm welcome after a long journey. Prosecco & Anniversary card was a very heartwarming touch. Such a cosy cottage with all the home comforts. Great walks & drives all round. The wildlife & views are mesmerising, breathtaking, tranquil, therapeutic, the list is endless!
The cottage and hosts were perfect from start to finish. Such a cosy, welcoming experience. Great walks and drives all around. We had everything we needed and more. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a beautiful property with uninterrupted, stunning views. The view had me entranced each time I opened the curtains; the stove was brilliantly cosy and easy to set up and clean. The kitchen had essentials greatly appreciated after a long journey- tea, coffee and biscuits! I can't stress enough how relaxing the cottage was, and how generous Mark, Moya and Shelia were. Such friendly people.
An unexpected joy we had was the friendly birds and chicks that visited the garden! Pied wagtails, Chaffinch, great tits, hedge sparrows, starlings, and a pair of cheeky jackdaws! Watching them from the window was very relaxing.
It was a great week. I would love to return to the cottage in the future.
We absolutely loved our time there
A lovely cosy cottage in the most amazing setting. We could have stayed forever!
Haven in the North Yorkshire Moors
Part of one of the buildings on the farm, ‘the nook’ was ideal for our stay in terms of location and layout.
Thanks for your review, and glad you enjoyed your stay at Postgate Farm!
I can really recommend this property if you are looking for a place off the beaten track. The property is compact to fitted out to s high spec with a fantastic log burner which adds a nice touch at night. The views from the property are breathtaking with several great walks on your door step.

Please note that mobile phone coverage in Glaisdale Dale is not good, depending on your provider. The cottage is attached to our house, and in the event you need the phone and have no signal then you are welcome to use our house phone. We do however have a very fast broadband connection so you should be able to use wifi calling, skype etc, please check with your provider if this is an issue for you.
