Summer...Bring your own horses (or we can help arrange) and ride the trails of more than 1 million acres of the 3 most spectacular wilderness areas in the Rockies. Meditate in the midst of the hillside aspen grove at the back of the ranch or your private ridge top overlooking the property and serene valley below. Hike among the wild flowers and evergreens up the steep 11,000 ft mountain right in your back yard. Stillness speaks here... Relax and watch the longhorn calves romp in the lush pastures. Ease into the evening sunset in the large outdoor hot-tub, then enjoy the cool night before a cracking fire. (Many other outdoor activities and sports too numerous to list here).
Winter...Enjoy the greatest little ski town in Colorado. Soak away the days activities in the private hot tub then relax in the comfort of a roaring fire and walk around barefoot enjoying the in-floor heat. Cross-country ski on the ranch or ski & snowboard on the mountain. Snow-mobile, ice-fish or just enjoy the glistening blanket of crystalline snow covering and quieting the most beautiful high altitude valley in Colorado.

I love this ranch and the area and really enjoy sharing the mountain experiance with those that visit. The rental home is a reflection of me (a little bit rustic and very comfortable).
This property is close enough to town (10 min.) to be very convenient but just far enough away to be peaceful. Sitting on the deck watching the calves romp or horses graze brings the heart rate down and keeps us grounded. My great granddad cowboy-ed just down the road from here when he was young (his picture is over the kitchen bar) and that history here just feels right.
Come play hard and rest easy. Enjoy a unique place to stay.
We spent a month in this property and loved it. It is a beautiful cabin in a great location between Gunnison and Crested Butte.
We have a dog and she loved the various hikes around the area.
The only negative for us city folks was the total lack of ATT phone coverage and very Expensive Verizon internet that we had to sign up for to stay in communication with the outside world.
This is a gorgeous, peaceful retreat. Birdsong and a babbling creek provide a restful soundtrack to kick back after a day of actively enjoying the mountains. We hiked and fished, zip-lined and rafted, shopped and golfed. The location between Gunnison and Crested Butte offers even more choices than these, but we could only stay one week.
My husband and I along with my parents stayed here for a week. It was a cozy piece of paradise in the mountains. We had everything we needed. All the comforts of home. I enjoyed sitting on the porch swing watching the horses. I highly recommend this rental and would love to stay again if we ever return the area.
Such a beautiful place to spend our vacation! The stars at night were amazing. We loved waking up to the cool mornings and the sound of the horses in the pasture. The fire pit each night was great for s'mores. We spent lots of time on the porch swing enjoying the mountains, looking for wildlife. When you are out on the porch you can always hear the stream that runs through the property. It is so relaxing. The drive into Crested Butte is convenient. But we still felt like we were out in the woods. The kitchen is well equipped, making it a joy to cook for my family each morning with the cool air coming through the windows. The bedrooms are large and comfy, the living and dining areas are roomy as well. I wish we had stayed longer. If we had it to do over again, I would have done less away from the cabin and stayed right there and relaxed more...Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us. We loved it.
ur family stayed on the ranch for an amazing week in July 2016. It was even better than what we expected. We really loved the location because it was about halfway between Gunnison and Crested Butte. It was easy to get to all the hikes, cute little (very busy) Crested Butte and the rivers. The first few days we had a little challenge unplugging from life as there is literally no cell phone service or wifi. However, by day three we were so relaxed we didn't want to turn our cell phones back on when we left. It was a healthy break from technology.
The hosts, Kirk and his wife, we're so kind and helpful. One evening we wanted to have a bonfire with our family and we asked if we could trim the grass around the fire pit. I would have been happy to do a quick weed eater trim around the pit but next thing I knew Kirk was out there and had it all mowed (it didn't need mowed, we just wanted the grass away from the fire pit.
Our kids really enjoyed the ranch. They had so much fun watching the horses and steer. They were completely fascinated listening to the rain on the roof since we don't get much rain in CA.
Overall we loved our stay. I fell in love with this ranch and would love to have a property like this for my own. Since that's not possible staying here is the next best things.
Great stay. Perfect for our needs.
If you desire horses, you can bring your own or we can help you lease local.
