DRUMKEERAN HOUSE ON IVEY LAKE, PEMBERTON, B.C.
Designed by leading architect, Ted Murray, and built by local log builders and craftsmen, Drumkeeran House is a classic example of the revival of the use of square-cut dovetail chinked logs hewn from British Columbia’s massive Western Red Cedars.
Strikingly set on the headland point of Ivey Lake, a trophy fly-fishing lake, the private five acre estate of Drumkeeran is blessed with a stunning and unforgettable country location.
The estate lands boast over 800 feet of waterfront with private dock and are richly forested with mature fir, cedar, hemlock, pine, birch, maple and wild dogwood. Local wildlife abounds and you may see black bear, mule deer, rabbit, squirrel, chipmunk, eagles, hawks, ducks, woodpeckers, a profusion of songbirds and, of course, fish.
A small house on the property, Ardbeg Cottage, is the home of a full-time caretaker/concierge to take care of the house and grounds and ensure that every need of the guests at Drumkeeran House is looked after.
The lodge has a Canada Select Accommodation 5 Star rating and VRBO Luxury rating and features:

Its relative proximity to Whistler and to the Lower Mainland offers international travelers in particular the opportunity to sample the varied attraction of the Province with relative ease.
Summer activities include golf, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, bike riding, horse riding, glacier flights, gliding, canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting, and swimming.
Winter activities include cross-country ski-ing, heli-skiing, snow mobiling, ice climbing and snow shoeing.Downhill ski-ing and snow boarding at Whistler (45 minutes to the ski-lifts).
As a special winter wonderland bonus, there are usually several weeks where Ivey Lake itself is frozen so as to allow for a range of activities on the ice right at Drumkeeran House.
The lakeside setting gives guests the opportunity to take advantage of the fact that Ivey Lake is the only trophy fly-fishing lake in the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia. In addition, Drumkeeran House provides ideal quarters from which to set out and fish literally dozens of nearby rivers and lakes.

There's nowhere like it!
Simply the best!
House was perfect for our stay - the house snuggled you right in with it's cozy country log cabin feel! While we didn't have any snow during our stay, it still covered the ground, and was perfect driving distance for the more hustling village of Whistler!
Traveler Tip: Don't miss the Keyshole Hotsprings in Pemberton - A little over an hour drive from the house, and then an hour hike in the deep snow, but it was worth it!
We enjoyed the most wonderful weekend at Drumkeeran on December 18-19. This is just a magnificent house and it was absolutely perfect for our family.
Our guests arrived from Johannesburg in South Africa on Thursday and we arrived at Drumkeeran the following day. As you can appreciate everyone was jet lagged and exhausted.
Drumkeeran was a refuge from all the hustle and bustle of the travel and holidays and an opportunity to decompress.
Our extended family members in Vancouver joined us and everyone was thrilled with the luxurious accommodation.
The one wish everyone had was to experience a Canadian winter, so we could not have asked for better timing with the fresh snowfall.
The kids all played non-stop outside – they had competitions to see who could sit the longest in the snow before rushing over to the hot tub to warm up again.
They made snowmen and had snowball fights. They invented games as they played and slid down the driveway on their toboggans and made slushies with fresh snow and maple syrup. By the end of the day they were completely worn out.
This gave the adults an opportunity to enjoy the warmth of the massive baronial fireplace and just unwind. It was such a long journey to arrive here and many were still trying to find their bearings.
We had people wandering around in different times zones day and night, so the layout of the house could not have been better.
It gave those who needed to rest the opportunity for privacy, while providing a central focal point to meet and relax in front of the wood fire.
Everything we could have wanted was provided and we prepared some delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen with so much working space.
Drumkeeran is just a fabulous country home in a spectacular setting. We admired every inch of the house, particularly the exquisite artwork throughout which was truly appreciated.
We will all remember our visit as one of the highlights of our holidays. It was the perfect retreat – an opportunity for our family to gather and spend some truly quality time together. We will certainly return. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the hospitality.
A few weeks ago a few of my friends stayed the Drumkeeran Lodge for a get together to make some delicious meals and relax in a beautiful setting. It was absolutely stunning; the pictures truly don’t do it justice! During out walk through we were all in awe every corner we took. It was huge and spacious and set up for mingling and cooking. Cooking is one of my passions and was so impressed at the set up, as there was so much counter space, two ovens and two fridges! Inside the lodge was gorgeous enough to be worth the money, but the outside made this place the most incredible any of us have ever stayed! A beautiful hot tub, tons of property overlooking the lake, let alone the kayaks to paddle around the lake. Can’t wait to come back!!!
Our two families spent last weekend at Drumkeeran House in Pemberton for two nights. It was such a great experience there! The House is an easy drive from Vancouver or from Whistler Village. It is beautifully located on the lake and with lots of different trees on the property. In the morning we saw humming birds and other birds, and at night we could hear the frogs around Ivey Lake. It is a large waterfront lakeside luxury log house on the tip of a peninsula in a crescent shape. One night we enjoyed a BBQ dinner right in front of the lake. They have a lovely private dock and kayaking on the lake is a very nice experience. The views there are beautiful. The house is great for getting together with family and friends - two stories, big wood fire place, spacious living areas, hot tub outside, neighbouring woods, pool table on the second floor, etc.. The house is beautifully decorated and filled with wonderful First Nations, Canadian and European art. Our stay there was very comfortable.
This is a great place for several families’ retreat. Kids will love the experience. The price is very reasonable for such a luxury house as there are six bedrooms, with comfortable king or queen size beds, as well as a loft. We will definitely go there again. The caretaker, Sharon, who lives in a separate cottage on the 5 acre estate, was very helpful.
A group of friends and I stayed in the amazing log home in April. This spacious home offers an abundance of activities & facilities and we in particular enjoyed the hot tub and spectacular surrounding scenery and upstairs pool table. The kitchen offers all the equipment that allows you to cater for a large group of people for dining at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The caretaker was really helpful and friendly. The owners have created a fabulous home that allows you to really escape from the busy city life. Each room offers a private balcony with gorgeous views of the surrounding Mountains and Forests. On a cold day it is nice to wrap up in one of the many blankets provided and recline on the seats and use the provided binoculars to look out at the vast scenery and wildlife. We were prepared and brought all our food and beverages with us which meant we didn't have to leave this sanctuary for the weekend.
Our group of friends spent two wonderful days at Drumkeeran House over Easter. This is a fabulous house in a stunning location! When we arrived we were impressed with the grand exterior – a large log house with a portico at the front. The interior was equally impressive. There were several First Nations masks on the wall and even a 4 feet high totem pole in the dining room! You could tell the owners took great care in decorating with their choices of high quality furniture and art. It really reflected the rustic nature of the log house.
The living room had a grand fireplace and comfy leather couches. It was great relaxing in the evening in front of the large wood burning fireplace (thank goodness it has a gas starter – no fuss and muss trying to light the wood with newspaper). The open chef’s kitchen was large and had all the modern conveniences, coffeemaker, microwave, dishwasher, etc. plus all the utensils, cutlery and dishes we needed. The TV was in the adjoining family room and also had leather couches and a cosy wood-burning stove. A great place for the kids to hangout and watch DVDs.
Our bedroom was large with a king-size bed and a large ensuite bathroom with heated floors. (Love heated floors.) The other adults in our group also had spacious rooms with king-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms. The two kids had the one room with the twin beds.
The weather was lovely, so we had a chance to enjoy the richly forested grounds. It was a short stroll to the private dock which offered us a magnificent view of Mount Currie. It was picture-perfect with the snow covered mountains, the evergreen trees and Ivey Lake. It was so beautiful and tranquil.
We had such a wonderful time, we’re now planning to come back in the summertime for lake swimming, kayaking and hot tubbing. A two day stay was barely enough to enjoy all the amenities or explore the trails and other lakes and mountains in this truly wonderful part of British Columbia. The shops and facilities of the village of Pemberton are just a short drive from the lodge.
Thanks to our hosts and magnificent Drumkeeran House!
