Lovely cottage, would visit again
The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. It is very conveniently situated in the centre of Crail, only a few minutes from the shops and the harbour. We had no problems with access, and would happily go there again.
Very nice property but disappointed with access . Also the bins were not emptied and were overfull when we got there .
Nice property poor management traumatic!!!
We sent an e-mail some days prior to our arrival asking if we should text on our arrival so that we could be met at the cottage. Not receiving information to the contrary we assumed that was what would happen. We were locked out of the property when we arrived and spent the next 1.5 hours trying to contact the owner. This involved wandering from place to place trying to find an area where we could get a mobile signal. We approached the tourist information to ask if we could use their wi-fi and also the local hotel as by now we were thinking we had been scammed and wanted to contact Home Away. Unfortunately there was no wi-fi access in Crail that day. By now my wife was extremely distressed. When the owner did return our calls she was unaware of the plight she had left us in and it turned out it was a key safe and that she had failed to advise this or provide the relevant code before she went on her holiday. Once the owner had provided the key safe code it was particularly ironic she told me not to forget it. No apology was offered. On entry the toilet was in immediate need of cleaning which my wife did but to date the owner is of the opinion we should have waited until she could arrange cleaners to come in and clean this and other areas that needed attention. This judgement has been made even although we supplied photographs taken at the time and which has been sent to her. Personally I would be happy to share these with anyone who wished to see them. As we had cleaned the areas of greatest concern we contacted the owner to say that we had dealt with the problems ourselves and we would contact her on our return home. I can only describe what followed as her hounding us to detail our concerns. Inadequate mobile reception made that impossible and we were then asked to provide her with an e-mail without concern how we were going to achieve that. In order to e-mail we had to gain access to a laptop and write a lengthy account of what we had found which we sent via Home Away. The protestations that Lesley made about being upset and wanting to put things right evaporated when we requested a sincere apology and compensation to acknowledge the distress caused by being locked out, the fact our food was wasted in the 23 degree heat whilst we waited for access and an acknowledgement that we were right not to wait to get a dirty toilet cleaned. A true reflection of a person or management is how they treat people when things go wrong. Lesley = poor.
Wonderful family holiday in Crail!
We had a wonderful stay at Henderson Way. The house was very clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The location was ideal too, just a few minutes walk from the Harbour and, in the opposite direction, the Main Street with some quaint shops, cafes and conveniences. Crail Pottery is practically on the doorstep too. The weather was poor the first couple of days of our holiday, but with such a great base for the duration of our stay, that didn’t matter. When the weather did pick up, we were in a beautiful setting and with Anstruther, Pittenweem, Elie and even St Andrews just a short distance away.
The photos of this house really don’t do it justice. It is really is presented to an extremely high standard, with top of the range fixtures and fittings. A very comfortable holiday home - highly recommended!
