Why Deborah Van Dyken chose Central Coast

We bought this investment property because it is in a great location and right around the corner from where we live.

What makes this cottage unique

When you stay at Shell Cottage, you can walk just two blocks to great restaurants, shops, the Beaufort waterfront, museums, ferry boats, and the post office. Also, Shell Cottage is in the Beaufort historic district, and it is fun to walk by these beautifully restored houses dating back to the early 1700's.

Beaufort is also on the Intercoastal Waterway and is a popular stopover for many wonderful boats of all descriptions. Walking down the Beaufort boardwalk, getting an ice cream cone at the nearby General Store, and looking at the numerous boats moored at the Beaufort docks is something everyone will enjoy.

Lovely cottage, flawless process

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little cottage. Perfect for 2, workable for more. LOVED the Saturday morning farmer's market right across the street & the bikes, which are perfect for getting around Beaufort. Kitchen is well equipped, laundry fantastic. Loved the little seating area out front.

Skeptical at first, blown away in person

  • 5 of 5

At the low price, I was skeptical that it wouldn't meet our standards. Deborah is very good at managing and communicating, so that put me at ease. Upon arriving, we were so happy at the cleanliness and comfort that we received. A perfect Beaufort experience: charming and cozy without flair. We've been vacationing in this area for 20 years and this was our first VRBO experience, best stay, yet!

Great little spot close to anything!

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Nice little place well equipped for a relaxing time while exploring the area.

Walking distance to restaurants, shops, ferry & guide boats etc. Buy some groceries, park the car and enjoy this neat little town.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for my fiancee. Had enough room and the kitchen was stocked with anything we would need. Bikes were very helpful. One could park their car and ride around town easily.

Seaside town getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very clean, well- and artistically-furnished, and plenty big for my sister and me. We appreciated that it was well air-conditioned because our stay was in the height of summer. We really enjoyed going places on the bikes that are provided, as well as just walking through the historic district down to Front Street and the boardwalk along the waterfront looking across to Carrot Island. My sister saw horses on the island from the Beaufort waterfront. We enjoyed outings to Atlantic Beach (for swimming), the Rachel Carson preserve (Carrot Island) for nature walks, and via the Harkers Island ferry to the Core Island lighthouse (National Park Service). Beaufort is a perfect combination for swimming, history, and nature appreciation. The owner was very friendly and solicitous to our needs. I'd come here again and recommend it to friends and family.
