My stay at Hanna's Cabana

  • 4 of 5

I brought my 5 grandkids and a couple of my adult children came up just for the weekend we loved the cottage it is close to downtown the girls had a good time walking around downtown we could walk over to the boardwalk just a couple blocks and we walked every day to the beach which was about 1 mile down the paved boardwalk The cottage was definitely cottage like and you did not have to worry about kids spilling things or messing it up it was very nice there was sitting for 6 to 8 at the dining room table and another seating for six in the backyard My brother and sister from Idaho also rented a different Cottage just a street away my place with the gathering place for all we had plenty of room for sitting inside and out we had a wonderful time and I would rent it again if I went back to Grandhaven for an extended stay

location, location, location!!!

  • 4 of 5

You can't ask for a better place close to everything! We walked everyplace while here. The farmer's market, downtown and the beach are all accessible. The TV was hardly on the entire trip because we were always walking to our next destination.

The cottage is nice and cozy. We spent many nights out of the back patio listening to music from the musical fountain. The kids really enjoyed sleeping in the back bungalow. It was like their own little retreat!

As far as amenities we lacked for nothing. The kitchen comes complete with supplies. The bikes were nice to use when you wanted to get someplace quickly. The kitchen table could accommodate the kids and their friends.

Great Location, could be cleaner

  • 3 of 5

Our family of five (two adults and three children) stayed here for a week vacation in Grand Haven. We have stayed at many rentals in the past, but this was our first in Grand Haven.

Pros: The location is awesome! We did drive to the beach but only because of the sheer amount of toys that we take. We loved being able to walk or bilke places, and especially loved being able to walk downtown for dinner or down the street to the ice cream shop. The house gave us plenty of space and the backyard patio was a perk. Brenda was very responsive when we had a question about the cable, and also gave us a heads up that we weren't parked correctly to help us avoid a ticket.

Cons: The house is old and charming, but lacked in cleanliness. Many of the dishes in the cupboards had dried food on them and the baking sheets in the oven were covered in grease. Basically we just had to wash everything before we used it. There were quite a few bugs but that is to be expected in an old house. You are required to put the clean linens back on the bed, and we noticed that the mattress covers had some dirt and debris on them which indicated they hadn't been washed. We did have to wash towels half way through the week as only one handtowel was provided.

A final point, particularly for families of younger kids - we were disappointed to find that the 'bunkhouse' does not in fact have bunk beds, but in fact a full-size bed and a small twin size bed. This isn't a huge deal but our kids were really disappointed as they were looking forward to the bunk beds. Perhaps we didn't read closely enough but we didn't realize that the bunkhouse has a completely sperate entrance from the main house, with the exception of a window that connects them. Basically we couldn't lock up the exterior house doors without locking the kids in that room at night. We ended up leaving the one adjoining window open and our kids used a stool to crawl through that if they needed us at night.

Overall we had a great week and loved Grand Haven!

Cute cottage nestled along the Michigan coast!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great trip to Hannah's cabana! Brenda responded quickly to all of my inquiries. The cottage was clean and very cute. We loved exploring Grand Haven in the winter. The only drawback was the temperature in the annex room. It was a bit chilly at night!

Perfect Location! Cozy Home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved and enjoyed a lot the great location, the lovely backyard, the well-equipped kitchen and the cozy decoration. We parked the car for our entire stay and did everything by foot or bike. We went to see the musical fountain several times, but also enjoyed the music from the backyard several times. The children loved the bunkhouse. The only inconvenience is going to the bathroom at night, but still a lot easier than when tent camping. It is a very charming old home. The original state of the home was kept whenever possible, but it also offers the comfort of the modern world. For instance the beds are old style (which reminds me of my grandmas bed and perfectly fit the style of the house, but the mattresses and pillows were very comfortable and almost new. The shower was very nice and the kitchen has all necessary appliances and is very spacious. The decorator managed to do a great job at blending together the old and the new and modern. We walked to the beach almost every day (about 20 min. walk to the main bathhouse of the state park, but closer if you want to stay close to the lighthouse). There are many beautiful bike trails that connect Spring Lake and other neighboring towns. Thank you for an awesome family vacation in Grand Haven!

I really wanted to find a cottage feel near the downtown and I got it! by the end of the two weeks the place felt like home! The bikes, beds and patio were great. We probably spent most of our time out front, people were very nice!
