even the drive to Waitete Bay is something else, the magic of pure native NZ as it winds up the west side of the stunning Coromandel, weaving its way through small settlements, hugging the immediate coastline. This property is 8kms south of the the Colville Store and Green Snapper Cafe (cafe usually closed in winter) and 18kms north of Coromandel township, which has many great eating places and quality NZ craft shops, awesome coffee.... The land is grazed each month, so there may be cows very close by. You can hire a fishing charter from Anglers Lodge (2 minutes away),or grab a water taxi ride out the the islands for some rock fishing, or fish from the rocks down at the beach. Keep an eye out for dolphins, penguins, orcas and solitary whales are sometimes seen. There is parking for your boat at the property.
The 309 road for a picnic and fun at Waiau Water Works + a nice walk to the twin Kauris + a cold dip in the water hole. Lots to do.
Up past Colville, at Port Charles is the Kiwi Retreat and over the hill in the other direction is Waikawau and Little Bay, gorgeous NZ .
Or just relax back at the house, listen to the sausages sizzling and watch the sunset. You can't help but unwind.
