About Byron and Kelly Harker
Hello, we are Byron and Kelly Harker from Vancouver on the West Coast of Canada. We've had the opportunity to travel widely over the years, and have always enjoyed returning to France. In 2003 we decided to sell our home in Vancouver and move to France. We discovered the delightful town of La Charité-sur-Loire in Burgundy and immediately fell in love with the town and the area. In 2004 we opened the first of our vacation rentals and currently have five such rentals in the centre of this medieval town. We enjoy the many festivals in town and the area throughout the year. We are close enough to Paris to 'pop up' for the day. We enjoy sharing our love of the area with our guests from all over the world.

What makes this House unique
La Charité-sur-Loire is south of the rain and north of the heat and as a result has very enjoyable weather. Our vacation rentals are in the centre of town and you are able to walk out your front door and enjoy the many bakeries, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. The Loire River is two blocks away and it has lovely beaches and walking paths along the riverbank. There is canoeing and kayaking on the river. We are close the wine areas of Sancerre and Pouilly-sur-Loire where you can meet the wine makers and enjoy tasting their wonderful wines. The castles of the Loire Valley are a two hour drive from us and make an enjoyable day trip. La Charité-sur-Loire is becoming an art, book and music cultural centre and as such there are many festivals throughout the year.

Canadian hospitality in France
Located in the wonderfully accessible and interesting Medieval town of La Charite, this property effectively merges contemporary comforts with Old World charm to produce a memorable experience for the renter. It is comfortable and accessible directly onto Main Street of the town, but set back sufficiently to avoid any disruption. It backs immediately up to the historic church, whose courtyard is accessible through the back kitchen door. There are two bedrooms, two baths, and a nice sized kitchen for the chefs among you. The property's charm is only exceeded by its owners, Kelly and Byron, who are warm, friendly, and highly accommodating. Both are looking to relocate back to Vancouver, Canada, so snatch up this rental before they leave!
We are happy you enjoyed your stay in La Charité-sur-Loire. It was a pleasure to meet both of you!
A nice house with good kitchen and bedrooms. We enjoied our stay.
Nice and clean house with everything you need in a small but lively town. Good food on nearby restaurants if you dont want to cook. Recommended for 4.
Thank you for staying in our Benedictine Suite. It was a pleasure to meet all of you! We hope to see you here again.
Lovely quirky little French house. All different floors with nothing level or straight and it's own tower with a lovely view over the rooftops and chimneys of La Charite. Very tranquil, even though on a main Street. Bells from Priory not intrusive either. Very conveniently located a few doors from the best bakery in town for breakfast croissants. A great place to stay in the heart of the town with access to bars/restaurants and many pretty local places to visit. Kelly and Byron are excellent hosts and Byron's historic tour is to be recommended.

Wonderful holiday in interesting medieval town
We are three retired ladies who have all been to France before but have never enjoyed or experienced such a wonderful holiday as our two and a half weeks stay in the Benedictine Suite in La Charite-sur-Loire. The lovely house in the heart of a most interesting town was well appointed and extremely comfortable. Its position enabled us to enjoy an easy walk to shops, cafes, restaurants - everything necessary to make our stay most enjoyable. Although centrally located it was extremely quiet except for the lovely sound of church bells next door chiming throughout the day. We hired a car for some of the time to visit some of the many interesting places in the area but we also took quite a few day trips by train to other lovely towns/villages on the train line - a very pleasant and easy way to enjoy travelling through the countryside.
The owners, Kelly and Byron were extremely helpful, offering advice and prompt assistance whenever needed. We thoroughly enjoyed Byron's walking tour through the town soon after we arrived. Also a wonderful wine and cheese tasting evening in their 16th century cellar.
Their knowledge of La Charite is extensive and their enthusiasm for this lovely town was contagious. We would love to spend time there again.
