I grew up in Tampa so I already had a love for water.I came up to Weeki Wachee to visit friends and rented a cottage there. After a couple weekends there I became hooked on the natural beauty of the area and the water.
Bert Terwilliger purchased this house in 1997
I purchased this property as a weekend getaway from the hustle of the city.I could not wait for friday to head out to Weeki Wachee.
I have since moved up here and now live just five minutes away. Now I offer the place so others can enjoy the nature and beauty.
House was clean and well equipped. Sat on the dock each morning with my tea...very relaxing. Bert stopped by to make sure everything was "ok". And kayaking on Black Friday beat fighting the masses out shopping by a long shot!!!!
We loved it every minute of our stay. We are definitely be back to stay here again
We had an amazing time. The property owner was very accommodating and hands on. We look forward to staying there again. We had no issues and were very satisfied. We fished off the dock out back and caught a nice sized bass. We have already recommended this property to several of our friends. Thank you Bert for a very enjoyable stay.
Upon arrival we found numerous dead bugs in the master closet with piles of bug droppings on the floor and all over the shelves. We cleaned it all up, stuffed a towel under the closet door and tried to forget about it but then we saw a few big palmetto bugs and then at 1AM we realized the beds were made but the sheets weren't fresh. They smelled like other people and the fitted sheet had the imprint of the lines from the mattress on them which only happens when they are laid on. We slept on our beach towels that night and in the morning we had to do laundry and clean in order to make this place half tolerable. The patio also had several piles of small wood shavings and bug droppings, we assumed this place must be loaded with termites. The lawn was packed with ants, was not recently mowed and the tall sticky weeds got stuck all over my long-haired dog's coat. Several electrical outlets are very loose (scary) and the 2 on the patio don't work at all. Several patio screens have holes – more bugs, the master shower is disgusting, the master bedroom ceiling fan is extremely wobbly and noisy (we had to buy a fan), the blinds are filthy and the back door knob is very hard to open. This trailer (NOT a house as listed) is very old and not maintained and Bert, I hope you like the huge palmetto bug next to the master closet. It tried to get in my suitcase but I killed it and left it there just for you. Now the pros: I was able to bring my 2 German Shepherds and they love water. We all jumped off the deck into the canal and swam every day. One caution - no pets permitted at the beaches, state parks, etc. so I just walked my dogs through this neighborhood a few times a day. The other renters and people who live here are super friendly and some also rent out their upgraded, nicer homes for the same price as this place. 2 of the kayaks were great as well as the canoe, we paddled all day every day. Bring cash and go meet Butch, he has the ice cream boat on the sandbar at the corner of the river and the canals to this neighborhood, he's super cool! The river is heavenly, crisp, cool, clear, most enjoyable and we had a blast with other paddlers. Too bad we were grossed out by this house and had to eat out but it was fine, we had lots of fun at the restaurants, adding to our vacation. We were able to look at and pick out our next rental while we were here. I don't recommend this trailer AT ALL.
We had a wonderful time. The view was beautiful. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors are friendly. Bert was a great host We will be back! Thank you Bert!
We just loved this property and all it's amenities!
I have two young girls and they enjoyed this vacation so much! Mermaids & Manatees?! Who can beat that! We used the kayaks and canoe daily, multiple times and saw mama & baby manatees on the river. we relaxed, ate & enjoyed the area very much!
Can't wait to return!
The house is spacious, and provides everything you need to be home away from home. So glad we found this place. It's magic!
