If Sun and Fun is what you are looking for: Look NO further.

Casa Del Sol

Picture yourself in the exciting tropics in your own luxury villa, with sun-kissed skies and the sparkling blue Caribbean Sea nearby. Feel your body succumb to the cool ocean breeze as it gently cascades over you, draining your stresses away! It’s not a dream! It’s Casa Del Sol!

Casa Del Sol is a tropical delight, full of Caribbean color and charm located on the southern most point of the Caribbean in Mexico. The ocean front villa overlooks the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. This 3 bedroom villa is completely private. Wake up in the mornings to a gorgeous sunrise and fall asleep at night listening to the gentle seaside.

On the Beach level, the breezy bedrooms are located on either ends of the villa for maximum privacy for your group. The rooms are spacious with a queen size bed, single trundle bed, a 7 foot couch made from local hard woods, reading chairs and dinning room table for 4. Feel free to hang from the walls in a hammock to enjoy the flowing breezes as you take an afternoon siesta.

Take an exciting swim out front in the coral patches visiting with all the tropical fish, lobsters, spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, and many more. The best way to describe the snorkeling in front is to imagine yourself looking into one of the most impressive stocked large salt water fish tanks around and next you know, you are in it. It doesn't get any better than this.

All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans and have stunning seaside views. You will not find any televisions, nor will you want one since there are so many things to do at the house or nearby.

There are many miles of beach to comb searching for the largest/brightest conch shell. Kayaking out to the barrier reef, biking down the beach road, tossing horse shoes, observing many types of birds, star gazing at night, or just relaxing on the beach with a book is a great way to spend your vacation.

Luxury abounds as the living area is open and breezy and fully equipped for your relaxing enjoyment.

The patios and verandas provide panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, and spectacular Caribbean sunrises. In the mornings you will see the sun rise while looking out into the Caribbean and in the evenings looking back in the lagoon the sun will set.

Other units are available or use the entire house for your vacation. Please inquire.

We'll be back!

Wonderful house on a beautiful beach! My family of 7 rented the upper unit, plus one of the lower units for 5 days. House was well stocked with purified water, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, clean towels, etc. We shopped in Playa del Carmen (or Tulum would have worked)for all of our food and drinks. We were so well supplied that we didn't even venture into Xcalak, but we could have tried a restaurant there - nothing fancy! We also enjoyed the delivery of the fruit truck a couple of times. We even were able to buy fresh meat off the truck. We came for the ocean, and it didn't disappoint. The beach in front of the house is kept clean and raked and is a great place to enjoy in one of the many lounge chairs. The ocean is very shallow - not a great place to just go for a swim. However, it would be very safe for young children, with water shoes on, to enjoy. We came specifically to snorkel the reef. Brought our own gear, swam out once or twice a day, and enjoyed the show. The rooftop is open to all guests (there are three different units that can be rented). The view is amazing - ocean to the east, and lagoon to the west. You can watch the sunrise or sunset over water. Rebecca and Conor, who are house-sitting for the owner and acting as caretakers, are wonderful! They were quick to greet us when we arrived, helped us unload, gave us space when we needed, but were there to chat and share stories when wanted. They let us know when the food truck was there, and even brought us home-made chips, guacamole, and salsas one evening. They are a treasure. I hope you get to meet them before they move on. This house would be a great property for a large family to rent and enjoy a vacation together. My one bit of advice, make sure you're clear on the directions for the house before you drive there, as you will lose cell service as you get close (the house does have decent internet however.) We struggled finding the beach road once we got to Xcalak. It was getting dark, we were exhausted and cranky after the long drive with 7 people in the van, and we took a wrong turn and almost made it to Belize (although we would have had to cross some water to get there!) And, speaking of cars, you definitely need to rent a car in order to be able to enjoy this house!

WOW!!!! Is Simply Not Enough

  • 5 of 5

Amazing, Spectacular, Phenomenal.... all these words can not do justice to this property. It went far and above our expectations. We had the most relaxing vacation stay of our lives (and we travel a lot!). Our days consisted of waking around 9 am to a beautiful ocean front view and wonderful cooling breezes. After breakfast our day consisted of laying in hammocks in the shade, walking the pristine beach and snorkeling! The most amazing snorkeling in the Caribbean is literally out your front door. We saw tons, and tons of beautifully colored fish, squid, starfish, barracuda and so much more. In the evening we would relax on the roof top deck with cool drinks .. watching the gorgeous sunset and simply soaking in the tranquility of being at Casa Del Sol!

A couple of side notes / "tips". When someone makes the recommendation to shop for groceries before you get there -- do it! There is next to nothing available in town. That said, a local farmer drives by 2-3 times per week with fresh fruit and vegetables (the best you will ever get!), eggs and fish/chicken. Although, availability is never guaranteed. We purchased water and soap -- these items were provided. Be ready to relax! There are several wonderful restaurants but as far as traditional night life goes... not so much.

Beautiful place, very close to reef, nice folks

  • 5 of 5

Very nice place, friendly folks, quiet and very relaxing. The places are very tastefully decorated inside and very comfortable. There is fresh produce available for quite cheap many days with farmers coming by. Also, if you're there to snorkel and see fish and corals, it's very good as there is a big, pretty reef very close to the beach (unusually close for this stretch of coast actually). Highly recommend this spot.

Gem of a get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We had 11 in our group (extended family) and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The biggest family stayed upstairs, and we used that unit as the communal cooking/eating area. Constant ocean breezes kept everyone comfortable. Morning sunrises were amazing off of the balcony. Phenomenal snorkeling right off the beach out to the breakwater (favorite sightings included queen angelfish, bluehead wrasses, yellowtail damselfish, and a moray eel) . Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, cookware, and 20L water dispenser. We spent 2 days away - one touring Mayan ruins and another to Belize via boat out of Costa do Cocos for snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley in San Pedro. The 12K road north from Xcalak to Casa del Sol is a bit rough, so the going is slow, but it is well worth it. In Xcalak, Leaky Palapa serves a wonderful dinner, and Costa has great fare/drinks too.

The Casa picture must be a few years old, as the surrounding vegetation is more lush and developed now, adding to the tropical ambiance of the area. Sunsets and star gazing are musts from the roof deck. We stocked up on food in Tulum for the week on the way down, and picked up a few extra supplies in Mahahual. Top off your gas when you can. All in all, it was a wonderful trip for everyone (grandparents to the youngest grandchild - age 5). Host/owner did a wonderful job keeping everything maintained, clean, and our trip memorable and entertaining.
