One whiff of the plumeria blossoms and you'll know you've arrived.
The Papakea complex sits just off the main road in the town of Honokowai, just north of Ka'anapali, on the leeward (an old nautical term meaning 'best') side of Maui. But traffic is light, and the condo is free of noise and congestion – just the sounds of the Pacific waves crashing on the sand mere yards from your bedroom window. You can throw a baseball into the ocean from the balcony.
Witness sunsets that seem almost otherworldly, they're so spectacular. With gorgeous views of Molokai and Lanai. (Not 'the lanai', but Lanai – the actual island.)
The first stretch of beach is just an elevator ride and a 100-foot walk away from your bedroom door. The old Hawai'ian capital of Lahaina, West Maui's major town, is just 8 minutes south. To the north is the bucolic, world-famous resort of Kapalua, where the PGA season traditionally kicks off.
Papakea's common areas include a big pool and Jacuzzi, along with shuffleboard and horseshoes.
Nightly rates include parking and wi-fi. Minimum night stay may be required. Contact us via the email form to the right to request a personalized rate quote.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2006
Listen to the ocean, watch the sunset, swim in the warm waters of the Pacific and relax in your own space at the end of the day.
Steps from the beach and miles from your everyday life.
Our family of four fully enjoyed this condo which had plenty of space! The condo was fully equipped with everything people might need besides food! Our first day there were 5 rainbows to greet us throughout the morning. Having beach towels to use was great and these are great quality and having the washer/dryer inside the condo was perfect! We never used the sand toys/boogie boards or chairs, but it was nice to have a soft sided cooler available to use in addition to the one I packed!
It is an excellent location, and was really quiet. The pool and spa we used often and there was always enough room! We even learned how to play shuffleboard on the nearby court. A lot of people were using the grills-but it never looked like anyone had to wait as there are many to choose from.
The kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, mugs, pots/pans, mixing bowls. We used the blender for smoothies-yum, and the coffee pot every morning. The refrigerator and freezer were very large and there was plenty of space to keep the groceries we bought and brought.
There was only one "negative" which really wasn't too bad. The location is stellar and just walking a few steps to the beach was an awesome perk-but at night, when you are ready to crash after a full day-the waves can actually be too loud! Earplugs helped dull the sound, so if you are a light sleeper-make sure to pack some if you plan to sleep in the room closest to the water.
There is a book with information referencing the condo, nearby shopping and restaurants which was very helpful. There is also a journal for people to record notes, info and trip highlights, which was also fun to read and helpful.
If you go to Paia-eat at Flatbread Pizza-YUM YUM! Castaway Cafe was a very short drive from the condo and Tuesday night they had buy one get one free pasta dinner-we didn't have any leftovers! That was our second time to eat there as we went earlier in the week and they told us to come back for the pasta. Hidden gem of a casual and reasonable cost wise restaurant!
We are so thankful to have found this place to stay and we HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone considering a vacation here. Thank you again for an incredible vacation made simple.
We had our 18 year old daughter and her friend with us and this condo was perfect. Two nice sized bathrooms, kitchen stocked with everything we needed, nice furnishings, comfortable beds. The owners had beach equipment and beach towels which was great. Gorgeous views! Would recommend this condo!!!
This unit has the best stocked kitchen ever. I enjoyed not having to buy spices etc. to cook with. Lots of pots, dishes, silverware, etc. The view from the lani is the best on the island. It is a quiet area with plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and overlooking the ocean. When we were there, there was construction going on that made a mess of the lawn infront of the unit. They were also noisy at times. I assume that it has been completed by now. I would highly recommend this condo.
This is a wonderful place to stay and a wonderful resort..however...check to see if there is any construction going on in advance. We were quite surprised to find it going on outside our lanai. Thankfully the owner did call and talk to me about this because I was very upset at first. Yes, I would recommend a stay here as the condo is perfect in every other way.
Relaxing and inviting condo in a good location for exploring this part of Maui. Easy walk to a few shops and resorts that have restaurants, as well as the ABC store. Great to have beach chairs, towels, snorkel equipment and boogie boards to use at other beaches (there is no beach at this development, but plenty of relaxing waves to fall asleep and wake up to). Would have been nice to have the WiFi password for the unit since the signal from other units was weak. Also: The sheets are soiled. Probably time for some new ones.
I am following up as I forgot to post my review from a girls trip. Originally stayed here with our son, daughter in law and 2 grand children. Was the perfect location and everyone loved it (previous review in 2014. So came back a year later with "the ladies" was perfect for our mothers who are in their 80s. They absolutely loved the grounds, the pools, the condo. Best was sitting on the lanai each morning with our coffee and chatting. For walkers you can do the Paved trail starting next door all the way to black rock. Beautiful walk along the coast line. We loved this place so much that I am waiting for my son to decide if he is getting married on Mauii next summer because this is my go to condo and would absolutely love to stay here for the third time. You will not be sorry if you choose this condo.
Fitness center ($$) next door. Groceries, restaurants and walk-in clinic within across the street. Expedia activity desk on site.
