The Mountain Pass Chalet is a large warm and inviting 2600 sqft newly remodeled family friendly home. Located on the quiet southern side of Government Camp, Oregon on Mt. Hood at the the 4000 ft. level. We are just a short 3 min. walk to the Ski Bowl East Lodge or to the core area of Government Camp where you will find grocery markets, restaurants, recreational shops, and of course that all important coffee shop.

Located within a 15-20 min drive is the Historic Timberline Lodge and the Mt. Hood Meadows ski resorts. Our large chalet has 4 spacious bedrooms (1 king in the master bedroom, 1 queen with two twins in the upper bedroom, 1 king in the main floor bedroom, plus the lower floor 4th Bedroom has 1 full bed and 1 futon), 3 full baths, a large kitchen area with Jenn-air range and eating bar, a dining room with table and chairs to seat 8, a game room with Pool table and a large hot tub. We have off street parking with availability for 2-4 cars maximum.

We are in a quiet gated community at the 4,000 ft snow zone elevation of Mt Hood and just a 3 min. walk to the Ski Bowl East Lodge, which is the largest night skiing area in North America and offers snow tubing hills, horse sleigh rides, snowmobile rentals for winter and an activity park and mountain biking trails for summer. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are both available right out of our chalet door into undeveloped land, some of which is on the old Oregon Trail. We are within minutes of many hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing, swimming, rafting, and of course lots of sight seeing. Let our chalet be your home base to all that Mt Hood and Government Camp have to offer no matter what the season. Great times and memories will be made staying at the Mountain Pass Chalet!

We do not allow Weddings, Receptions, or Parties (no loud music allowed, shouting, yelling or other activities that disturb the neighbors). This is a quiet, peaceful community.

Why Tim Stockton chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

We purchased our home after our son joined his high school ski team. Our family has always loved the Mt Hood/Government Camp area and we have made so many wonderful memories. There is always something for us to do whether it be downhill skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed staying there very much. The moms and kids liked the spaciousness, the big kitchen and the indoor hot tub. I also appreciated all the Timberline Lodge posters and photos.

Close to town...not very clean

  • 1 of 5

Spent three nights last minute on government camp with family. Had a great time on the mountain and in the snow.

House is very conveniently located walking distance to town and tubing.

The house is updated somewhat, mostly needs a lot of updating and a good deep cleaning. A lot of dust everywhere and some sheets were not washed. There were some blood stains on some pillows and mattress pad in the bedroom by the kitchen. I would recommend buying good quality mattress pads and new sheets and pillows. Very unpleasant owner Roxanne. We would not return to this particular house again.

Nice convenient stay for a large gathering

  • 5 of 5

We had four families staying at the house and it was a wonderfully convenient vacation home. Next to ski bowl so kids could take advantage of the sledding, and we could cross country ski from the house. House was well equipped for a large gathering and the hosts were very responsive of our needs. Would recommend and stay here again.

Thanksgiving Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We spent our Thanksgiving week end in this spectacular house. We have a family of 12 and there was a lot of space. The kids loved the hot tub and pool table. The new renovated kitchen was great, we cooked our Thanksgiving meal, just like if we were at home. Located only 15 minutes from Timberline. The skiing was ok for the first now of the season. Thank you for the great house, I would like to return in the future.
