When you reach the desert getaway home you will find that you are half way up the mountainside with a mountain backdrop and a valley view. The valley view is miles of Sonoran desert with a faint view of an occasional train at the bottom of the valley. At night, you see some lights from Corona de Tucson some fifteen miles away. The back of the ranch is straight up the mountainside.
Located next to Colossal Cave Park and Saguaro National Park in Vail, AZ (20 miles) outside Tucson, this truly is the Sonoran Desert to perfection. The rocky mountainside with gigantic saguaros and other cactus engulfing it makes it “incredibly unique”. Just completed: 600 sq. ft. deck complete with Jacuzzi. Just the view is worth the price of admission.

Why Craig Wilson chose Vail
We love Tucson, but wanted to be able to get away to see bright stars at night, relax with a view, listen to only the noise of wildlife and enjoy each other..
What makes this House unique
The stars, desert, view, jacuzzi, hiking and relaxing. Walking through Colossal Cave Park and hiking the Arizona Trail.

Great place with great view!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Very comfortable and scenic. The road/driveway was a bit difficult at times, but it was worth it!
Beautiful location! Spacious we loved the porch and hot tub!
Craig was really helpful, and awesome host! we loved our stay here! A bit far from grocery, but it was a really great stay away from it all. Watched the full moon rise over the hills and woke up early to witness the lunar eclipse from the hot tub on the porch. We stayed to attend the gem shows in Tucson, reasonable drive into town for the shows, and so relaxing to return to one mile inn to cook dinner and chill out, watch wildlife, movies and listen to records provided. Thank you so much! Hope to return someday!
Great location and super host.
The House was perfect for our family, as we wanted to be close to my parents retirement community. The road up to the house was challenging at first, but by the end of our trip we learned how to navigate it. We saw deer, javalina and some great sunsets. Craig was quick to respond to all our questions, and we had a wonderful trip. Would definitely recommend this house to others.
Great location; very responsive host
The house is in a great location and has all the kitchen items including spices. Craig responded immediately to all questions and requests.
Great home in the hills.
I had wonderful time there. It was very quiet outside, the home had a lovely view, and the area was beautiful. I enjoyed sitting on the grand porch, reading a book and listening to the birds chirp and flutter by. It was very peaceful, and I enjoyed being there during my stay. Everything was as expected in the home, and the owner was very helpful and quick to respond with any questions. As an added bonus, there were plenty of brochures, books, maps, and pamphlets with information on local activities, parks and interests.
I hope to be able to visit there again in the future!
We enjoyed our Stay
My family had a nice time staying at this vacation rental. The place is not fancy, but comfortable. We had everything that we needed and especially enjoyed the beautiful porch across the whole front of the place that looks out at the desert and mountains (with only a few houses to be seen). It was private and quiet. The place is a manufactured home that sits in a rural spot down a dirt road that is just south of Tucson. We saw a lot of wildlife (birds, a fox, lizards, ...) just sitting and relaxing, and a bobcat on a nearby road. The only downside (and why I didn't give it 5 stars) was that there was an odd smell (that may have been that fox living underneath) and the Internet was slow (which I'm sure can't be helped being in a rural place). For us, neither was a real issue, but I felt that I should mention it. We also really liked how close it was to Colossal Caves and it wasn't too long a drive to Karchner's Caverns either - we made our trip a "cave tour" adventure - very fun. Dealing with the owner was EASY and he was clear in his communications. We liked the place...!
Thanks for the review. I will check on the fox and slight odor. It also could be the case of sitting idle all summer and no activity. Now that activity is in full swing, fox and smell will surely move out :)
As more internet providers move into our area I'll hopefully find a stronger source.
Thanks again for staying with us... I hope parents weekend was awesome. Go Cats!
Our home is located in the perfect setting with bike trails and hiking out the front door. We are located next to Colossal Cave Park with all its offerings. You will not find a better view than the one from our front deck.
