Casa Jasmine is named for our cocker spaniel. We are a couple from Boston - we love to travel, sample foods of the world and get to know different cultures. Patrice is a journalistic photographer and yoga teacher, with a yoga studio in Boston's South End. Pete began as a lawyer, and changed to teaching Spanish at the high school level.
We have traveled extensively throughout Latin America, and one year we completed an arduous but fantastic drive from Boston to Nicaragua. We plan to retire in PV.
Peter Rogers purchased this condo in 2004
We bought Casa Jasmine because it felt like home. It is across the street from one of the most wonderful beaches in the world, and so close to great restaurants and shopping. We love to relax, unwind in the quiet comfort, squeeze some orange juice, lie around the beach and swim, choose an excellent place for dinner, then come home to our cozy condo. We hope you will find it as enchanting as we do.
Old Mexican charm - hard to find!
My wife and I just got back from staying at this condo and over all the Condo was adequate with some short comings...
The good [ in our view ]..
Great location, in the heart of things, easy walk to beach, shopping, malecon.
Quiet safe area.
Lots of bottled water upon our arrival.
Lots of room in Condo.
2 bathrooms [ comes in handy at times:) ]
Well equiped kitchen.
Great 12 foot ceilings, very open feel to it.
The not so good...
There is so much "stuff" in condo there really is nowhere to put food except on counter or in fridge.
Lots of cool decoration "things" but a little on the cluttered side.
No view to speak of from the condo itself or the shared deck.
Some appliances showing thier age, stove burners not all working,
oven does not work [ although there is a good toaster oven ]
Display on microwave not working.
Bed a little on the hard side [ and I like hard beds ...]
No regular toaster - sure would use a lot less power than toaster oven!
A/C unit would not work properly, although we really did not need it there were a few days that it would have been nice.
Overall it is a good unit in a great area that with a little work could be very good.
First, my disclaimers: I love Mexico, I love the Mexican people and I have visited Puerto Vallarta about 8 times in 10 years. I stayed in a great hotel the first 3 times and in CJ ever since. Maybe I should just stop here. CJ is like my home away from home. It is clean, comfortable and very secure. It is in Old Vallarta, one block from the beach. If you love Mexico, don't even think about staying in another part of town. If you want modern, if you want the US, stay in Nuevo Vallarta. CJ is Mexico in all its funky glory. It is close to the Beach, Malecon (boardwalk) and amazing restaurants. CJ feels like my home in PV.
Eco-tourism, trips to Yelapa and other wonderful beach spots, art walk, galleries, gourmet restaurants, shopping. No pool on site - buy a day pass to the Tropicana pool.
