About Patrice Flesch

Casa Jasmine is named for our cocker spaniel. We are a couple from Boston - we love to travel, sample foods of the world and get to know different cultures. Patrice is a journalistic photographer and yoga teacher, with a yoga studio in Boston's South End. Pete began as a lawyer, and changed to teaching Spanish at the high school level.

We have traveled extensively throughout Latin America, and one year we completed an arduous but fantastic drive from Boston to Nicaragua. We plan to retire in PV.

Patrice Flesch purchased this condo in 2004

Why Patrice Flesch chose Romantic Zone

We bought Casa Jasmine because it felt like home. It is across the street from one of the most wonderful beaches in the world, and so close to great restaurants and shopping. We love to relax, unwind in the quiet comfort, squeeze some orange juice, lie around the beach and swim, choose an excellent place for dinner, then come home to our cozy condo. We hope you will find it as enchanting as we do.

What makes this condo unique

Old Mexican charm - hard to find!

Steps from the beach! very CLEAN; FULLY-equipped, and spacious Condo!

  • 5 of 5

First of all--the owner is easy to communicate with, and will gladly give you details about the property, as well as the local environment. Don't bother with water--there is has a large water dispenser in the kitchen, with a refill next to it; the faucet even has a filter on it. It was very clean, and had every amenity you will need! The property keepers sweep and wash the common areas--which are surrounded with plants and flowers, every day; it shares a beautiful patio. It has great WiFi, TV, (with DVDs) and A/C in the bedroom-- which cools the entire condo; in Mexico, most properties have the entire top 2 feet of the ceiling ventilated by decorated terracotta, so the air travels freely, especially with all of the ceiling fans. There are written instructions on how to use everything, if you aren't tech savvy. When I go back, THIS is where I will stay. It is not, by any means a "high-end" condo, but everything is clean, up to date, and the location is excellent in the "Romantic Zone"--which is the best place to stay. In addition, the condo is very secure and it is decorated in a very traditional Mexican style...beautiful tiles, rugs, and good character! If you want a home away from home--go for it! If you need granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and luxury bathrooms, you will need to pay a lot, or stay at a hotel up North--where the resorts are. I had a wonderful time, I hope you do too. (I don't understand the less than positive reviews on here.)

Location! Location! Location!

  • 4 of 5

Casa Jasmine is literally minutes from Los Muertos beach, shops in old town and more (such as the Saturday market in the square at Badillo). It is in a secure building and on a quiet part of Amapas Street. The space is clean, relaxed and comfortable with nice touches of local art. Bed was great.

Casa Jasmine is close to many restaurants and a great grocery store down the street that carries just about everything you would want with a wonderful little shop across the street where you can get freshly squeezed juices.

We enjoyed our breakfasts and a few dinners on the patio.

Lovely little library- take a book, leave a book.

We were very happy with our two week stay.

A great 3 weeks...

  • 3 of 5

My wife and I just got back from staying at this condo and over all the Condo was adequate with some short comings...

The good [ in our view ]..

Great location, in the heart of things, easy walk to beach, shopping, malecon.

Quiet safe area.

Lots of bottled water upon our arrival.

Lots of room in Condo.

2 bathrooms [ comes in handy at times:) ]

Very clean.

Well equiped kitchen.

Great 12 foot ceilings, very open feel to it.

The not so good...

There is so much "stuff" in condo there really is nowhere to put food except on counter or in fridge.

Lots of cool decoration "things" but a little on the cluttered side.

No view to speak of from the condo itself or the shared deck.

Some appliances showing thier age, stove burners not all working,

oven does not work [ although there is a good toaster oven ]

Display on microwave not working.

Bed a little on the hard side [ and I like hard beds ...]

No regular toaster - sure would use a lot less power than toaster oven!

A/C unit would not work properly, although we really did not need it there were a few days that it would have been nice.

Overall it is a good unit in a great area that with a little work could be very good.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! We do indeed have an exceptional location, if I must say so myself! We appreciate your positive comments about the room, the cleanliness, the two bathrooms. As far as the kitchen, most guests stay for a week or two and do not do much cooking save for toast in the morning or a sandwich. For those purposes, the kitchen has sufficient room and equipment (including a toaster oven rather than a toaster, coffee maker, grinder, blender, juicer, etc.!). It is also hard to maintain appliances in brand new appearance across the street from the beach - it's like living on a boat! Air conditioning will be thoroughly maintained prior to the summer months. We also take pride in our interesting art from local artisans. If you want the streamlined New York condo look, our place isn't for you. Again, thanks for bringing everything to our attention - we aim to please our guests.

It feels like home

  • 5 of 5

First, my disclaimers: I love Mexico, I love the Mexican people and I have visited Puerto Vallarta about 8 times in 10 years. I stayed in a great hotel the first 3 times and in CJ ever since. Maybe I should just stop here. CJ is like my home away from home. It is clean, comfortable and very secure. It is in Old Vallarta, one block from the beach. If you love Mexico, don't even think about staying in another part of town. If you want modern, if you want the US, stay in Nuevo Vallarta. CJ is Mexico in all its funky glory. It is close to the Beach, Malecon (boardwalk) and amazing restaurants. CJ feels like my home in PV.
