About The Owner

We have multiple rental properties, including a couple of bed and breakfast inns, all

located in Calistoga, the heart of the Napa Valley, Sonoma and Alexander Valley wine

regions. We also have a small vineyard at one the the vacation homes, Chelsea Vineyards, and produce a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon, which is available for purchase. Production is limited to under 240 cases per year. We specialize in providing comfortable

home-away-from-home lodging for travelers staying in the Napa Valley.

The Owner purchased this bungalow in 2008

Why The Owner chose Napa County

We purchased this rental because of the great location in downtown Calistoga in the Napa Valley. Calistoga is a great town and, in our opinion, the best town to stay in when visiting the Napa Valley.

This property is located just 2 blocks from downtown Calistoga where visitors can walk to great restaurants, spas, shopping, wine tasting, art galleries, live music and a wonderful museum.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great, clean, 40-50's throwback in the very best way. Our quarters were once an apartment and it was a perfect size for my wife, 12-year-old and dog. Very clean. Quiet. In the separate entertainment cottage was a great basket-pocket pool table that had my son (with us) on his way to becoming The Hustler. A two block walk into town, coffee, restaurants, etc. A nice, relaxing couple of days up from Mill Valley. Judy and Leah were absolutely wonderful and helpful to put it all together.

Pleasantly Surprised - a breath of fresh air

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for lodging for our little Oregon family for Pacific Union College's graduation weekend exercises. A seperate bedroom and living area and a kitchen are high on my list when traveling with a two year old and my severe dietary restrictions. Lodging in St. Helena was limited and expensive. This little bungalow was just what we needed. We stayed in the Avignon.

The June weather was perfect and we spent most of our time out in the courtyard for meals (fresh from the Calistoga Farmer's Market Sat. morning) and in the game room for pool etc. We used the kitchen and laundry facilities a lot and the air conditioning was great as well. They provided a rollaway crib at no charge. We had 3 adults and a 2 year old in the bungalow and it was quite comfortable. The innkeepers from the bed and breakfast next door were very accommodating and kind. We had a wonderful time relaxing here amidst all the craziness of graduation weekend and moving my sister-in-law out of her dormitory etc. This was a home away from home.

It's not modern. In fact it's refreshingly antiquated while entirely functional. Kitschy and charming. We are not big on technology so we never turned on the TV and what internet connection we did use was on my husband's smartphone. So I cannot comment on that end. Although I can recommend that you leave your technology off and enjoy relaxing outdoors with a little local food and beverage. We picked up BBQ from Buster's and created our own side dishes etc. and spent a lovely dinner out on the patio. I would go back.

okay property, outside is much nicer than inside

  • 2 of 5

Location is nice and close to Callistoga.

Exterior is nice with good landscaping

House is on the smaller size, we were a family of 2 adults and 2 small kids, house was very very very tight.

Kitchen utensils really needs upgrade. I didn't even attempt to cook, but this is a very small kitchen with very old plates, bowls and spoons. Didn't feel like using them.

Not sure if i would rent this place again. Kitchen appliance needs to go to the museum, range was newer rest of them were styles that i have not seen in my lifetime, they are probably from the 70s.

Parents of a CIA Student

We drove out to drop off a car for our son who is attending the Culinary Institute of American in St. Helena and stayed in Calistoga at the Chien Blanc Bungalows‏. Clean, quaint and close to town. It was perfect for our stay, affordable and relaxing. We enjoyed the cobblestone, fountain and the pool room each night. The extra space was perfect for shooting pool, watching TV and sharing a bottle of wine.

This was a great place. It was very quiet, had our own private courtyard, and the inside of the cottage was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Thank you for a great stay.bob & vicki

Old and Tired

  • 1 of 5

We were disappointed by the condition of this rental. It looks better in the photos then it does in person. Granted it is an old bungalow, but the owners have not put one nickle into it to make it nice. All of the tile is cracked, everything is original and very old. The furniture is bad, the dishes and the silverware are very old. We would not stay here again.. Owner needs to spend a few dollars and fix up the place.
