About Peter Volpe

Hi, I am Peter Volpe and a long time resident of Pahala. I have lived here for over 40 years and love the aloha and diverse community that we have here. I am an avid sports fan (go Patriots! go Red Sox!) and you will frequent find me playing tennis at the courts near Punalu'u Black Sand beach. I also love building homes and you will find a beautiful cedar log home I built at Kalana Estates. I'd be happy to take you on a tour during your stay! Welcome and I am looking forward to your visit.

Peter Volpe purchased this house in 1980

Why Peter Volpe chose Pahala

This rental home is located next to my house and features a wonderful huge backyard where I have planted many superb fruit trees. Some of the diverse flora include macadamia nut, orange, tangerine, cherry, fig, banana, apple, lime, guava, and jaboticaba. As our guest feel free to relax on the patio and explore the backyard while indulging in fresh squeezed orange juice and sweet banana or guava fruit.

Peter and Fran are marvelous hosts! Plied is with lots of fruit and veggies all from their yard. Even though our weather decided we did not need much sun, it did not keep us down. Had a great visit with family, lots of sight-seeing. Will be back! Gary and Sharon DeHart from Oregon

Excellent House for a Rural Stay

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our time in Pahala. Our hosts, Peter & Fran, couldn't have been nicer and helpful. We enjoyed seeing them and enjoyed our many conversations. The property is in great shape as both Fran & Peter look after it on a routine basis. We really liked the small-town atmosphere of Pahala (an old sugar town) as well as the property itself. The backyard offered plenty of relaxing sunshine and plenty of fruit trees. If you like a rural atmosphere you will like their house. The kitchen was very well stocked with all appliances and implements and the two bedrooms, bath and living area were exceedingly comfortable. We felt very much at home staying in Pahala and sharing our time with Peter and Fran.

Great home for South Island Exploration

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were warm and helpful, providing great local insight and fresh fruits from the garden.

We were able to explore the Volcano, Punalu'u Beach with the beautiful black sands and green sea turtles, and other South Island spots.

The house was clean and had all the basic needs for our family. The neighborhood was safe and we enjoyed the nearby park. Note that there are minimal grocery shopping options in this area, so would recommend doing shopping before heading to Pahala.

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Planning a trip home to the Big Island under our circumstances was a stressful event. From the moment we contacted Pahala Town House on VRBO, a great burden was lifted. Locating Peter and Fran's Vacation Rental and communicating with them has been a blessing. The photos posted of the property on VBRO does not do justice. Seeing it in person and residing here during our stay far exceeded any of our expectations. We appreciate all of the effort and thought they have put into making this a home away from home. It is beautifully decorated, clean, efficient and practical. I wouldn't change a thing! Volpe's, thank you so much for accommodating our needs, being flexible with our schedule and most of all for your hospitable spirit. Your kind attention and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time for our family will never be forgotten. You and your home have provided much needed comfort at a time of great loss. We hope that our next visit to Pahala will be under happier circumstances and that we will be able to stay here at the Pahala Town House once more. We have stayed at many hotels throughout the years, but they all fail in comparison. Mahalo Nui Loa, Mark and Wendy Fausset of Euless, TX.

Great Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this property for about two weeks while we worked on his parent's home. The house was very clean, well maintained, and well furnished. The property has a nice covered patio, gas barbecue grill, and large backyard with a wide assortment of fruit trees, most with fruit ready to eat! Since this was a homecoming for several of our family members who had not been home in years, we hosted several dinners for family and friends, and had more than enough room for everyone. Pahala is a quiet little town, several minutes from the Punalu'u black sand beach, about 30 minutes to the Volcanoes National Park, and about one hour away from Hilo. The owners are wonderful people who ensured we had everything we needed during our stay and were very gracious hosts. We will definitely return whenever we are in town. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for a month at this property and had a terrific time. the house is well kept and very comfortable. the yard is great with mac trees fruit trees and simply a great space. The owners are just like long lost friends so welcoming and very gracious. We enjoyed the time there. Our daughter and son in law joined us and we had ample room.

The town itself is lacking in business with the local cafe closed down and not reopened. however the people are very friendly and it is safe to jog and go for walks at all times of the day. The black sand beach is great and just a few minutes away by car. and don't miss the southern most backery just 15 min away. Thasnks to the owners and we hope to be able to visit again in the future
