About Paulette Lambert Weiss
We live in Charleston and Swarthmore, Pa. Our profile photo was taken by our son when he was two years old. We were so amused by his perspective, and the joy in our eyes emanated from looking at him with the camera. The memory made that day is so special that I will never change it. He's now fourteen, and is taller than both of us. We've all grown older since then, and we have had several great moments lived at Polly's Folly. I hope to share the house with other people so they can also live great moments, and add them to their memory bank. I don't mind sharing the joy. This house is so simple, and always makes us marvel that we do not need as much as we thought, when the ocean is at our doorstep, with the sun and stars shining over us day and night.

Why Paulette Lambert Weiss chose Folly Beach
We love the relaxed nature of Folly. Basically, we love the beach and really wanted a home on the water. The hassle of finding a parking space and dragging beach gear back and forth is eliminated when you can walk out the door, and be on the sand with the convenience of an outdoor shower, whenever you want. We also happen to love Charleston, which provides a quick change of scenery with alot of fabulous dining options. Folly keeps getting better all of the time, with great dining, bars, and outdoor adventure experiences. Everything is walking distance from my house while giving you the peace and quiet away from the jamming town. Start your morning with a cup of joe at The Lost Dog Cafe- it's my morning ritual. The JUICE JOINT is my new addition for a clean detoxing drink in the morning. The truck is on East Ashley, just after the intersection with the only traffic light on Folly. Rita's, Planet Follywood, the Irish Pub, The Surf Bar, and Taco Boy are great restaurants and very close. Wiki Wiki is a great new restaurant on East Ashley Avenue. They have a great setting for cocktails, and nice seafood. Dole Whips are a great treat at Wiki Wiki. There's a big octopus piece of art made by a local artist floating above the bar. If you want a good burger- black bean or beef, go to Surf Bar. They also have wings, drinks, and live music. Woody's delivers delicious wood fired pizza, and Dolphin deli delivers great sandwiches. Black Magic is an easy stop for breakfast. Front Street Coffee has great pastries and coffee. Next door, Dolce Gabana serves ice cream and frozen yogurt. There is a small grocery on the island called Bert's where you can find pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, cheese, beer, wine, tomatoes, etc. Get an ice cream at Tides Hotel, and eat it by the pool. Tides also has a restaurant, and bar overlooking the ocean. Charleston is only 20 minutes away so it is very convenient to go to the city for a completely different experience.
What makes this House unique
How can you beat being on the water with plenty of outdoor spaces to hang out? There is a hot and cold shower beneath the house, where we have the grill, a hammock, tables, and chairs. It provides an escape from the rain or intense sun. Speaking of the elements, mosquitoes love to bite me, so my yard is treated to eliminate the mosquito population. The deck has two dining tables plus plenty of seating, and rocking chairs. The screened in porch has an L shaped settee, bar cart, and more seating. We ride bikes on the beach, grill on the deck, fish, go crabbing, surf, enjoy walks at all hours of the day, and love to spend time with friends and family at the house. Oyster roasts are great under the house. There are plenty of cooking supplies, dishes, and utensils. The basics of sea salt, pepper, Olive Oil, Coffee, sugar, honey, and an assortment of teas are available. Coffee and Tea lovers are set with a coffee bar that includes a pour over coffee maker, coffee grinder, a Keurig K-Cup Coffee Maker, assorted Monin flavorings, a BPA free Electric Kettle, a French Press, and delicious coffee. You can see the ocean from the moment you walk in the house. Even the two bedrooms that are on the street side of the house have side views of the ocean, and palmetto trees swaying in the breeze. Many guests comment that it feels like one is on a boat when in my house. We are on top of the ocean. It's amazing to be so in touch with the power of nature. The "Lights out after dark" rule, regarding deck lighting on the beach at Folly, gives us the gift of beautiful starry nights. The house faces East and brings spectacular views of the break of dawn each morning. This house feels more attuned to the big world around us. It's a great place to watch nature at its finest like shooting stars. There are two living areas. One is upstairs, in the loft with a 50" tv, 2 built in daybeds, and a 5 piece set of Milo Baughman modular sofas. Down- 45" tv in open living/dining/kitchen area.

Perfect beachfront, loved the deck in the back, also not far from dtown folly
Thank you! The deck is one of my favorite parts of the house. I never take furniture to the beach bc my deck is already on it! I’m happy to hear that you had a great time. Please tell your friends & family about my place, and please return in the near future! Fall, Winter, and Spring are also great times to be on Folly.
My friends and I stayed here for a wedding weekend and I couldn’t have asked for a better house. It had direct beach access and a back porch so we could enjoy hanging out in either place. Each bedroom upstairs had its own bathroom and the downstairs bedrooms each had a jack and Jill. Polly was super responsive to my questions and check in was a breeze. We would definitely come back!
Relaxing stay, beautiful views!
Great place, plenty of space indoor and outdoor.
Thank you for coming to my house, Allison!

Thank you, I hope you will return with more friends and family in the future!
Folly Beach is 12 miles from Charleston, SC. The beauty of being at the beach is that you can relax by the water, and walk to Center Street on Folly for a little more excitement. Bikes, surf boards, and golf carts are available to rent in town. McKevlin's has surf boards available to rent. Outdoor Adventures has kayaks, and paddle boards available to rent just before you reach Folly Beach, on Folly Road. Another option for outdoor adventures on the water is just to take an expedition at moonlight or during the daytime. There are several places to rent golf carts, and bikes on the beach. Look them up in advance to make a reservation for the high season. Kiteboarding, and parasailing are also options. Surf lessons are offered on the beach for the whole family, closer to Second Street, on the sand. Fishing is an option from the Folly Beach Pier. Boating, deep sea fishing charters, and golf are also a great part of the area's lifestyle. Kiawah Island, Charleston Country Club, Wild Dunes, Patriots Point, and James Island Municipal Golf Course are all close for great courses.
There are several restaurants, and bars with live music on Folly. The beach is gorgeous day and night. The county park is beautiful for a walk in nature to the West. A walk to the East on the beach leads to Center Street, the Pier, and lots of activity.
For a completely different experience, Charleston is a great destination. I don't mind driving, and nothing is really far in Charleston, compared to larger cities. In 25-45 minutes you can be in a completely different setting by switching direction. Neighboring areas include James Island, Kiawah Island, West Ashley, Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, Sullivan's Island, and Isle of Palms. Sometimes, I choose never to leave the beach because I need to slow down and would rather avoid the busy life of Charleston. But, when I need lots of stimulation, I hit all of the islands, and different areas in between.
Charleston Eater gives insight into all of the latest great places to eat in Charleston, and the surrounding areas. Dining, and cocktail hour are part of the Charleston experience.
Life is meant to be savored in the Lowcountry. Charleston is rich in beauty, history, architecture, great shopping, and dining. Folly Beach is relaxed, the beach is natural, the vibe is laid back. One of my favorite activities is to go paddle boarding near Morris Island Light house.
In a nutshell, a few obvious sites to visit are either Historic Plantations on HWY 61: Magnolia, and Middleton Place. Downtown Charleston: The Battery has gorgeous antebellum mansions overlooking Fort Sumter. Charleston is a city of culinary delights, the food is exquisite and beautful. Don't miss the Charleston Riverdogs playing minor league ball in season. Go to Bowen's Island for oysters and live music. At night, you will see twinkling lights on the water, it's the shrimp boats, which will return after dawn with the fresh catch of the day. Crosby's Seafood is just before the overpass as you reach Folly. You'll see the shrimp boats, stop in, and get your pick of the freshest seafood off the boat.
There are several barrier islands surrounding Charleston, each one is unique. Go visit for a fun outing. Beware, the traffic can be intense on summer weekends. I prefer to stay on the beach if I need a completely relaxing day.
