About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

Welcome to our Tahoe home!

We are remodeling our house every year, so check out the new pictures!

This 1600 sq ft. home, between Homewood and Tahoe City, is 12-sided and backs up to National Forest Service land and Blackwood Canyon (a wonderful hike, bike, ski, snowshoe and bring-the-kids explore area)--A perfect place for a get-away any time of the year. It's homey, comfortable, has tons of charm and amenities, and is perfect for up to 7 people. We have a lovely, inviting stone fireplace with gas starter.

***For exact location, please look up Elizabeth St., Homewood, CA.

The neighborhood is quiet, there's plenty of parking for 4 cars in the driveway--it's perfect for friends, family or business. To quote Steve, a recent renter: 'I'm so glad you opened your home to us. Friendly neighbors, quiet, virtually on the water, buoy, everything!!! Thanks again!'

There are filtered lake views from our deck, and you are within an hour's drive (depending on road conditions) to anywhere on the lake--skiing, hiking, casinos, rivers, lakes, and/or shopping. We are close to Tahoe City and Homewood, Alpine and Squaw ski areas, the Rubicon Trail and Truckee.

There are 2 formal bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with a double and twin bed), one sleeping area downstairs with twin beds and curtains for privacy (counts as a 3rd bedroom), a fold out couch that sleeps one adult or 2 children, and a fold up single bed, 2 full bathrooms, 2 TV's (one up, one downstairs), and 2 VCR/DVD's. Smart phone coverage is fair to good with possible internet. We do not have wifi.

Another recent renter gave our house rave reviews:

“We came back today from Tahoe and it was a wonderful experience. The skiing and the lake were in our backyard and your home was a quaint and rustic, warm environment. I would definitely stay there again!'

We also own a large buoy and can rent that out in addition to staying in our home.

The association has a beautiful beach and a picturesque dock. You can walk down and watch the lake, admire the beautiful surrounding mountains, and of course, relax!

This house is available for nightly, weekly or monthly rental all year long. Per night price may vary depending on time requested. For more information or to book this home, please call or email Trudy.

About Trudy Nye

Our Skyland house is owned by my father, but since he is older, I have volunteered to manage the property and rent it as often as possible. The house has been furnished as a second home for my family, not as a rental. We love using it and love being up at Tahoe, any season. Each year, a part of the house gets remodeled, so it looks better and better each season. Come and experience a wonderful place!

Note: This photo was taken on my bike ride around Crater Lake. Tahoe is a great place to ride your bike too!

Trudy Nye purchased this house in 1969

Why Trudy Nye chose Lake Tahoe West Shore CA

My parents chose to buy property at Tahoe back in 1968 because a house could be rented for at least 2 seasons, maybe more. We were a boating, water skiing and snow skiing family, so Tahoe was a natural choice. It has been a great house in a wonderful, beautiful location.

What makes this house unique

Peace and quiet, beauty, trees, water, mountains, valleys, rivers, blue sky, skiing, hiking, biking, rafting... What more could you ask for!

Cozy and spacey cabin, perfect host

  • 5 of 5

Trudy's cabin was a perfect stay, walking distance from the lake and close to Skiing areas, Tahoe City, hiking, etc.

The cabin is very spacey for the price and can easily sleep a group of at least 6 people or even two families, so we (a family of 3 plus dog) only used one of the two floors.

The cabin was cleaned spotless, very comfy and functional too, with a nice wood-burning fireplace, couches, a full kitchen, deck and even a washing machine.

So it's basically a full home away from home. We had a great time and definitely plan to come again next year.

Trudy was very responsive, provided us with very detailed instructions regarding everything about the cabin.

There is no WiFi and cell phone reception is not the best (at least AT&T) so don't expect fast internet, but you don't go there to surf the web but rather enjoy nature, the lake, the snow.

West Shore retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed several times in this wonderful West Shore cabin. Our family has always had a wonderful experience. The cabin is well appointed and in a great location, with parkland behind the house. It is spacious enough to split with another family, yet affordable enough for a cozy retreat for just us. The kitchen is great for cooking, and the living room is light and airy. We have stayed summer and winter, and look forward to future visits!

Lovely home in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay here and we would not stay anywhere else. The owners are lovely and very accommodating to plans etc. The house itself if cosy yet spacious, the kitchen is fantastic, loads of bench space and every appliance you could ever want. The sofas are so comfy, the deck is fabulous and with all the windows upstairs it is much brighter than other places we have stayed. We hope to return again next year! Thanks so much.

Thank you so much for our wonderful day in your cozy cabin esp on a snowy weekend. Pictures definitely don't do the justice in this cute cabin! Perfect for 2 families - everything was so nice & clean. Kitchen is fully loaded with pots, pans, griddles, everything you need to cook, and even sharp knives!!!! Beds were comfortable - we loved that we could use the fireplace & even wood provided! Thank you again for allowing to stay in your place! Hope to be back soon!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Victoria, for your nice review! We try to create a relaxed cozy atmosphere and provide most amenities. We love our cabin in the woods and love being able to share it. I will work on providing better pictures that showcase the home better. :-) Sincerely, Trudy

Just Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every moment of our stay!

The cabin is quiet, clean, spacious and so sweet. Much cuter in person.

We wanted a place with hiking right from the home and we found it in this location.

Thank you, Trudy!!
