Welcome to our Tahoe home!

We are remodeling our house every year, so check out the new pictures!

This 1600 sq ft. home, between Homewood and Tahoe City, is 12-sided and backs up to National Forest Service land and Blackwood Canyon (a wonderful hike, bike, ski, snowshoe and bring-the-kids explore area)--A perfect place for a get-away any time of the year. It's homey, comfortable, has tons of charm and amenities, and is perfect for up to 7 people. We have a lovely, inviting stone fireplace with gas starter.

The neighborhood is quiet, there's plenty of parking for 4 cars in the driveway--it's perfect for friends, family or business. To quote Steve, a recent renter: 'I'm so glad you opened your home to us. Friendly neighbors, quiet, virtually on the water, buoy, everything!!! Thanks again!'

There are filtered lake views from our deck, and you are within an hour's drive (depending on road conditions) to anywhere on the lake--skiing, hiking, casinos, rivers, lakes, and/or shopping. We are close to Tahoe City and Homewood, Alpine and Squaw ski areas, the Rubicon Trail and Truckee.

There are 2 formal bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with a double and twin bed), one sleeping area downstairs with twin beds and curtains for privacy (counts as a 3rd bedroom), a fold out couch that sleeps one adult or 2 children, and a fold up single bed, 2 full bathrooms, 2 TV's (one up, one downstairs), and 2 VCR/DVD's. Smart phone coverage is fair to good with possible internet. We do not have wifi.

We also own a large buoy and can rent that out in addition to staying in our home.

The association has a beautiful beach and a picturesque dock. You can walk down and watch the lake, admire the beautiful surrounding mountains, and of course, relax!

About Trudy Nye

Our Skyland house is owned by my father, but since he is older, I have volunteered to manage the property and rent it as often as possible. The house has been furnished as a second home for my family, not as a rental. We love using it and love being up at Tahoe, any season. Each year, a part of the house gets remodeled, so it looks better and better each season. Come and experience a wonderful place!

My parents chose to buy property at Tahoe back in 1968 because a house could be rented for at least 2 seasons, maybe more. We were a boating, water skiing and snow skiing family, so Tahoe was a natural choice. It has been a great house in a wonderful, beautiful location.

Firewood is provided in a wood pile under the long stairway. Please pull replacement wood from the lower end and re-cover the wood. Our house backs up to National Forest Service land and Blackwood Canyon--a special area for exploring! A buoy is available for an additional charge if you would like to bring up a boat.

Quite adequate for us, though rough looking from the outside.

Arriving at night was a little disheartening as the deck is broken and there's a window boarded up. It didn't look like a safe and comfortable place to stay. Once inside and getting everything turned on we were quite comfortable. The location was just right for us. The homeowner was very communicative and friendly.

Owner's Response: Yes, the deck being damaged is unfortunate. Many homes on West Shore have the same problem, heavy snow sliding off the roof and damaging the house or deck. The covered window is to thwart bears from breaking in. I'm glad you settled in and had a nice weekend. Special note: our deck and stairs are now repaired and refinished, the boarded up window is open, all is good!

Close to town,skiing,and the lake. Well furnished and super comfortable. Opening and closing the house was super easy. I would definitely stay here again, I give this dodecagon a 12/12!

Cozy and comfortable and so close to the lake!

Warm and cozy in the snow. We were there during a snowstorm and enjoyed ourselves. Lots of potential for snow-shoeing right from the house. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

Very convenient spot to Homewood

Simply unforgettable!!

From beginning to end of the trip, the owners were in constant contact ensuring that everything was in place, the instructions very easy to follow but besides all that, the cabin is truly amazing my entire family had a blast beautiful views so close to homewood ski resort and squaw valley resort, not to mention the lake.. just over all an amazing experience.

Making the best of a bad situation

Just before my stay at Trudy's place a big storm hit that knocked out power, water, and heat, rendering the house uninhabitable. Trudy was very helpful and communicative during the whole ordeal. Trudy did everything she could to get the house ready for us despite the nearly impassible roads and lack of utilities. When the power company failed to restore service, I immediately got a full refund without having to ask. Even though I didn't get a chance to stay there, I know that I can book Trudy's place with confidence in the future.

Tax Rate 10.0%

The cleaning/damage/pet fees are mostly (except for $100 inspection fee plus $25 if using a credit card) refundable if, the morning that you leave, you clean the house thoroughly according to our instructions (this could take several hours), it passes inspection, and the key is returned. Any professional cleaning needed will be deducted from the fees. Payment methods such as using a credit card and Pay Pal incur a fee which will be deducted from your refunded deposit.

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
