About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Downtown is just 3 or 4 minutes away. Yes, you can walk but biking/bus/cab/car is probably more likely.

The best part about this cottage (on the lovely half acre property we call Verde Camp) is the old Austin feel that's getting harder and harder to find in downtown Austin. The houses on this half acre of land dates back to the 1930's. The cottages have recently been remodeled inside and out with new plumbing, walls, wiring, and paint.

The birds chirp in the morning; the squirrels dance in the shady canopy from two 200 year-old oak trees; church bells can be heard in the distance at noon. It's a pretty nice spot year round.

However, this area is happening. Not 3 blocks away is what NPR recently called 'the coolest street in America' (for better or for worse! Ha). Find some vintage vinyl; Peruse the best thrift shops; A straight razor shave; Folk art galleries; or find a cool old sign.

Restaurants / Cafes / Bars:

Continental Club is 2 1/2 blocks away. The best of the best restaurants. Lots of veggie options, live music, clubs, Art houses, theater.

Walk or bike to Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake) and get some exercise. Hit downtown, 6th Street, UT Longhorn games, kayaking/canoeing, and you know you want some barbecue and a beer. It's all just minutes away.

Catch the bus or rent a bike or scooter to almost anywhere. Or, hey just chill. Watch movies via the Roku player on the 37' flat screen. Use the WiFi to surf the web. Get some work done. Rest, relax, get a massage, take a walk, order some food. Whatever. Once you stay, I know you'll come back.

- Noise. We just ask that you be respectful. We have a 'No Noise' policy that is strictly enforced after 10 PM. Loud or obnoxious behavior will not be tolerated.

- No Smoking in the house.

We allow well behaved dogs with pet fee. We do have a dog run on the property, but the property is not fully fenced.

Wonderful spaces

  • 5 of 5

Loved our time at Camp Verde. We rented two one bedroom houses for our mom and daughters 'girls trip', and it was absolutely perfect. Everything we needed - clean, well decorated, comfortable... we loved the outdoor space to convene for food, drink and conversation. Highly recommend.

Awesome, awesome awesome!

We have stayed at Verde Camp multiple times. It offers everything we need. Excellent accommodations and it's close to some our favorite Austin food, drinks, music, shopping, etc.

We will come back again and again!

Excellent place to stay in Austin

  • 5 of 5

Verde Camp was awesome. The home we stayed in was very neat and comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. The bed was very comfortable and air conditioning was strong for those hot days.

Only 2 blocks from all the action on south congress.

I highly recommend staying here.

PERFECT get-away

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place that was in a neighborhood and not as sterile as a hotel. This was absolutely perfect!! An incredibly short walk to South Congress, where we found a ton of great places to eat and shop. Very close to running trails along the river. Beautiful property, clean home, accessible to all of the great parts of Austin...highly recommend!!

This is how you do Austin

  • 5 of 5

Spent a quick, relaxing weekend in Sunrise House and it was great! Neighborhood is awesome (quiet, which is nice after all the crazy along SoCo) but super close to lots of great things to do/see. No idea why you would choose a cookie-cutter hotel room over this sweet piece of Old Austin. I found Verde Camp by typing in "cool places to stay in Austin" and, in this case, Dark Lord Google certainly delivered! I cannot wait to come back...I've got my eye on Yellow Rose House for next time :)

This is THEE place to stay when visiting Austin!!

  • 5 of 5

This is my second time staying at Verde Camp, and will not be my last. Verde Camp offers SO MUCH MORE than a hotel or Air BNB, and is located a very short walking distance to South Congress Street, the main street and hub of Austin. The homes all have a very "Austin, Texas" aesthetic and feature cable TV/Netflix, a full kitchen (with complimentary bottles of Topo Chico, coffee and tea), amazing outdoor patio spaces, bikes, laundry and the price is amazing for everything you get.
