Alpine Meadows is one of California's finest ski resorts, with superb groomed runs and loads of off-trail skiing. The resort boasts 13 lifts covering a wide variety of terrain, with spectacular views and a spacious lodge. With top-quality programs for kids of all ages, Alpine Meadows is an unbeatable destination for families. Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics, is just five miles away.
During spring, summer, and fall, Alpine Meadows is your gateway to the beautiful Tahoe wilderness. Our home in the exclusive Bear Creek development is situated on the slopes of Scott Peak overlooking a rushing waterfall. From the living room and back deck you will gaze upwards to the ridge-line of Squaw Valley's KT-22. The Bear Creek pond, for private use by Bear Creek residents and guests, is fed continually with fresh water - a paradise for swimmers, waders and sunbathers, young and old alike. There are ample hikes close by, not to mention rafting, biking and all the other activities that Lake Tahoe provides.
The Ziegler-Brown family lives in Cupertino. Bob and Jennifer work in the medical industry during the day and indulge personal passions for music, poetry, gardening, cooking, sports, hiking, parenting etc., the rest of the time. Our college-age daughter, Stella, is a remarkable artist, thespian, and scientist, not necessarily in that order. Son Jackson is in high school and loves sports and a good book.
Robert Ziegler purchased this house in 1969
This home was built by Bob's parents in 1971. The house is a comfortable vacation rental on a spectacular site, especially for the mountain views and the waterfall behind the house on Bear Creek.
The great attractions: In the winter, wonderful skiing, just a few minutes away. In the summer, hiking, swimming, sun-bathing, rafting, biking in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.
Owner was great to deal with, the home was clean and comfortable. We had a great weekend. I would recommend this property to anyone especially if you have a large group.
The house was big enough and the kitchen was well-stocked enough for our 2 families to stay. We especially loved the pond!
this property was perfect for our group of runners celebrating in the mountains. Well outfitted kitchen, ample room For all to gather. Beautiful views from the deck, and the sound of waterfalls made sleeping dreamy. Trails nearby perfect for running or hiking and the community pond was fun for the kids and adults alike.
Great space, nice with an open fireplace, and felt like a real home.
We had a wonderful visit to Alpine Meadows. The house was a perfect mountain get-away in an ideal location. The living room was very comfortable and we enjoyed a fire in the big stone fireplace each night. We also enjoyed the large deck and the sound of the creek in the ‘backyard’. The fact that they had a piano really caught my eye as we were looking for homes to rent. With two musicians in our family, we enjoyed time around the piano. A highlight for me! They also have a large supply of games and puzzles. Although we didn’t play games, we did enjoy working on a puzzle together. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of pans, plates, utensils. There was also a large supply of batteries and light bulbs available which came in very handy as we had to replace 4 burned out light bulbs upon our arrival. The bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of warm blankets. The bathrooms were clean and we always had plenty of hot water. We did bring our own towels to save time with the washing, and that worked out just fine. On a day off of skiing, we had fun exploring the nearby areas of Squaw and Tahoe City. The owner was very responsive to our questions and kept us updated on several things that were going on while we were there (for example, a firewood delivery and a handle replacement to a broken refrigerator handle). We would definitely stay here again!
We had a large group that would pack a house and this property did not disappoint. There were enough beds for every person and the bunk room was really great for a group of friends. The instructions were very clear and Rob was really quick responding to any questions we had. This place is walkable to Alpine Meadows and a short drive from Squaw. Would highly recommend a stay here and I would love to come back in the summer.
