Al and Bev were very easy to deal with and they kept in constant contact. The house worked very well for us. The kitchen, grill and pool area were great. Quiet neighborhood and location of the house made it easy to get to the things that we wanted to do. Thank you!
Al and Bev were great. Answered all of our questions, and being a first time renter for HomeAway, they were great. The house was beautiful, pictures do not do this house justice. Quiet neighborhood and close to everything, shopping, groceries, ghosttowns. Thank you
We stayed 2/28/15 to 3/8/15. We celebrated our 31st anniversary and enjoyed 5 - A's spring training games. Freeways are close and we hit the ghost towns to the east and 20 minutes to the airport. This location was close to all. Costco, Sam's club within 5 miles. Bashaw's, Safeway, Fry's and grocery needed all within a few miles. Great places to eat all in the 5 mile circle. The home is as described, pool and hot tub was a great place to relax and do laps. Home is huge and easy to get the private time if needed. Al and Bev are easy to work with a call/email. I would stay here again, great place and location.
Thanks again, Alden & Vicki
We rented this house for a week in December 2014. House was very well maintained and clean. We enjoyed our time with the extended family that came in to town for our daughter's wedding. I also did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be big and well equipped. There was plenty of seating outside for entertaining. House was bigger than expected and had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Al returned our security deposit promptly. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your home in Gilbert! Many fond family memories where created!
Our family rented this home the week before Thanksgiving. We loved the large living spaces and the fun game room. Our group filled the house but we never felt crowded. The kitchen made cooking easy and convenient. The yard was beautiful and the neighborhood very quiet. The location was perfect for getting around the valley. We would rent this home again. Thanks Al & Bev!
Al originally advertised the house for 14 people. Al and I spoke over the phone about our needs for special sleeping arrangements, which specified the use of his air mattress. When we signed the contract, the house was still rated for 14 people (because of that air mattress). When we got down there, he was missing the air mattress but did not want to replace it. He reasoned that since we were only 12 in number, we could do without it. Even after this frustration and breech in contract, we called him to warn him that his irrigation system had failed, and he thanked us because without it, his landscaping would have desiccated in the 105 degree heat that week. We found the house in reasonable condition though heavily used and worn down. The pool toys and bikes were in terrible shape. The knives were dull. The coffee pot and coffee maker were a mismatched and dysfunctional set. The walls and carpets were grimy. But the real surprise came when we received our security refund minus $180 for repairs that my friends in the rental business call "normal wear and tear." He charged us to replace a refrigerator door handle and vertical panels in the blinds, to repair a bathroom towel bar, and to clean and paint a spot on the carpet and wall. The door handle, blinds and towel bar might have finally failed while we were there, but not because we were hard on the house. And while we did spill a blueberry smoothie, we worked really hard to clean it up to the standard of the surrounding walls and carpet. To add insult to injury, Al had already required us to pay an additional cleaning fee up front because we were a large group, to cover the cost of the additional laundry time. Well, he never needed it because we washed and dried all our towels and linens before we left. We were really good to the house and to Al and feel totally burned by this experience. It goes beyond the $180 to faith in the system. While I have to give the place 2 stars, I find it rather "unfair."
