About Barb Janssen

I grew up in Northwest Iowa and moved to La Crosse in 1996. Have lived in this neighborhood the entire time. Started Do4U Home & Garden Services in 1996. Opened Bluff View House in 2006, and in 2008, turned my long term rental into a short term rental (The Cottage). The Bluff View House is across the street from my home and The Cottage is next door to my home.

Barb Janssen purchased this house in 2006

Why Barb Janssen chose Southwest

This is a GREAT neighborhood! It's less than a block to Kids Coulee in Myrick Park, Myrick/Hixon Eco Park and a 10 minute walk to Hixon Forest. Forest Hills Golf Course is only 4 blocks away and the University of WI-La Crosse is 2 blocks away. A quiet residential neighborhood.

What makes this house unique

The Bluff View House is so unique! It is called a Lustron House and was made out of 100% drywall or wood. Only 2498 built after WWII. Many of the the remaining Lustron homes are listed on the National Register.

Unique historical home

  • 4 of 5

Owner is very accommodating and the home is quirky and fun. Simple items such as ice, coffee and various cooking spices are provided. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This house and the host was absolutely wonderful! Was able to book on very short notice without any complications. Host was very welcoming and the house felt like home, had all the amenities needed and more. Would love to stay in the spring or summer time and use the bikes and yard. House of steel is the place to be!

Nice Getaway

  • 4 of 5

First time renting a house for a weekend getaway and it was a nice experience. Clean, well-kept, owner nearby, all the amenities of home. Great location to downtown and the bluffs. Nice neighborhood. Only drawback was the inconsistent wi-fi connection. Would recommend to friends and relatives.

Owner's Response: WiFi has been upgraded from 10 mg to 30 mg and a new router installed. No issues since these changes.

Wonderful privacy and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home in Aug. 2010 and LOVED it! My #1 favorite was being so close to the Kid's Coulee playground since we had our 2 children with us. We walked there daily for the kids to burn off steam. Since the house is made of steel the owner has placed magnetic words on the walls for renters to play with, which my 6yr. old loved doing by himself and with us. The owner also had a lovely vegetable garden and we were told to help ourselves. I would highly recommend this home to anyone and would definately stay there again.
