Stand in the living room and look out over Casco Bay, through our six, floor to ceiling picture windows, and capture the magic of Maine. Cliff Island is just three miles long and one mile wide. In the morning you might walk to the South Point, where the waves from the open ocean crash upon the native granite, In the afternoon, maybe some mackerel fishing down at the dock or swimming in the cove. The house is unpretentious but very comfortable. It’s situated on 5 mostly wooded acres, right on the shoreline with private beach which provides lots of solitude. And yet it’s an easy, 4 minute walk from the ferry wharf less than 1/4 mile away. You can see the ferry boat landing from the living room. (By the way, “meeting the noon boat” is the social event of the day.)

Spacious home with a spectacular panoramic view and the best view on the island in our opinion.
Spacious home with a spectacular panoramic view of the water. Definitely the best view on the island! The home comfortably accommodated 10 people. There was a large living room with glass windows which was recently updated with a new floor. The house is on a private lot with a grassy yard, great for family games. The owners also have a propane lobster cooker which we used to cook Earl’s hand delivered lobsters. Everything you could possibly need is provided, linens, cooking utensils, etc. Keith was very accommodating and quick to respond to all our questions. The MacLean’s home met all out expectations for a Cliff Island get away
We loved Cliff Island. We relaxed, had Lobster and found lots of sea glass.
There is a million dollar view here and very thank full that the MaClean's family opens there home so we could enjoy the Island living.
Great location on the water, views of sunrise and sunset from the house, close to the dock where the ferry comes and you can fish, and the town square with store, library, post office, bulletin board with weekly activities. Island people are very friendly. Store Owners bend over backwards to accommodate. Ordered lobsters from island lobster-man and cooked them on the outside propane lobster cooker. The house itself was musty, and not particularly clean. Spent the first day doing wash and cleaning up the floors that had grass clippings, and relining the kitchen shelves where food is kept as they were a sticky mess, as was the oven which I didn't touch. Bikes were in poor repair which we attempted to make better. After the first day of cleaning, we had a good time. I expected better from the pictures. The house is old and could use some upgrades in flooring, furniture, and shades.
Guest complained about everything from Day 1. Everything from a blown light bulb to a dirty shelf in the refrigerator...very high maintenance. Complained that the house didn't come with fishing rods and tennis rackets! Everybody on island said the same thing . The lobster man only sells the lobsters (Doesn't cook them) he spent well over an hour cooking them for the renters, and never did they offer to pay him....he wasn't happy with me about this....(I don't blame him). I later found out they didn't pay the island taxi driver either ! Truth be told, I dont think Cliff Island is a good fit for this party.
