Fishing, Biking, Hiking & Outdoor Mountain Living with a Modern Flair!
Why Tory chose Carbondale
We built this home and the home next door in Carbondale in 2015. We are living close by in Glenwood Springs. Carbondale is a fabulous community and we are so proud to be a part of it!

Lacked essential supplies, Covid19 response
Two families totaling 9 people planned on staying at this property for five days. The house accommodations were fine. But within a day we realized there was only one trash bag and two dishwasher soaps for the entire visit. In addition, some of the door locks did not work, including a patio door right above a public walkway. This would've been a problem if we stayed for the entire reserved trip, but we only stayed for 48 hours. This was the week Covid19 shutdown the town and all ski resorts. Two days before our stay I emailed the owner about canceling, due to the high number of cases in the county and the Governor's recommendation to stay out of the mountain towns. The owner responded that they were healthy individuals who liked hiking the outdoors and were not worried about it. The day of arrival, the ski resorts (which was the only reason why we reserved this house) shutdown, along with the town of Carbondale, which then essentially shutdown our vacation. Multiple phone calls to the owner went unanswered and were returned with texts saying she would not be available to talk about the situation on the phone. We were willing to pay for the days that we stayed but due to this never-seen before situation we asked for a refund for three days we would not be there. This was in-line with the recommendations that VRBO gave and what the ski resorts were doing for their travelers as it became a priority to shutdown the small mountain towns as this pandemic started to hit. Through texts and emails, we were told we could get a credit for those days on a future stay. It would seem reasonable to have this communication over the phone, as we had requested numerous times. We were given no guidance on when this credit could be used, or for how long it will be good for. There is also a minimum stay requirement for this property which we don't believe will be met with the awarded credit, meaning we will have to pay to meet the requirement. The obvious lack of concern about providing simple household essentials coupled with the difficulty to communicate in real-time during a time when the area was completely shutting down was unacceptable. Fortunately, there are many other homes to rent in the area which we will pursue for future visits.
Easy vacation over president's day
We came to ski but didn't want to stay in a resort town. So we decided on downtown Carbondale. The location was great, easy to get anywhere. The home was clean and well equipped and we really enjoyed our stay.
Everything was smooth about this place. Beautiful interior, clean, close to downtown. We were here for a wedding, very convenient. 10 of us with no issues. Would stay here again. Thanks
