About Ned Savoie
My wife and I live here with our young son, and we have a furnished apartment so our families can come visit. We would love to have you do the same!
Ned Savoie purchased this Apartment in 2000
Why Ned Savoie chose Kittery
We live here full time because it is such a wonderful part of the country.
What makes this Apartment unique
Walk to local restaurants and shops, or stroll across the river to Portsmouth, NH. There are lots of great activities in the area, including terrific beaches, great museums, mountains, shopping and much more.

Sweet apartment overlooking the waterway
The apartment was clean and comfortable and was located along the water across from the Navel Yard. We enjoyed the industrial views, watching the activity, and hearing “Taps” from the porch. The home is also situated in a fun area of Kittery. Bakeries, restaurants and shops are just steps away. Easy drive or walk across bridge into Portsmouth .
Kris was a great guest. Left our home in perfect order. Would happily host them again!
Great property, owner super helpful
Everything about this place was great except for one thing, mentioned below. First the good stuff. Ned the owner was really helpful and responsive. The unit was very well equipped with kitchen tools and appliances. Bathroom worked fine in all respects. Furniture was comfortable. One thing we hate about many rentals is that surfaces are cluttered with the owner’s junk. Not so here — plenty of space for *your* junk.😀 The unit was bigger than photos make it appear. We had 2 dogs with us and we never felt cramped. Beds were comfortable. Towels and sheets in good shape. All in all, really great, except...
The shipyard noise. It’s right across the channel and runs all day from dawn to dark. One reviewer said it was white noise that helps with sleep, and that was true. But sitting on the deck (also a great space) enjoying the view was definitely impaired. If you are looking for peace and quiet... this was not it the week we were there.
But otherwise wonderful. Really. If you’re there to enjoy the region’s other amenities you will love it. And there are a lot of those. I can’t believe how cool Kittery is now! Wasn’t like that in the 80s when I lived in Portsmouth.....
Thanks for your review, John! I wish I could control the shipyard. Some weeks are noisier, some quieter. But this is good advice for anyone considering our place: If you think the noise will bother you, please don't book with us. On the other hand, if you want to see the daily workings of America's oldest shipyard (and 1 of only 4 left in the country) where the Portsmouth Peace Treaty was signed, the USS Constitution was rebuilt and our submarine fleet is overhauled, then our place might be perfect for you. And it's great to hear John's description of our amenities which our guests often compliment us on. We try to make sure our place would be somewhere we would want to stay.
Nice apartment, fun location.
This is a very comfortable apartment with a nice deck and yard. There were several good restaurants just across the street and the walk into Portsmouth over the Memorial Bridge was fun. Ned was welcoming and a phone call away when we had a question.
Thanks, Carolyn! Great having you, hope you are able to make it back again!
Wonderful, clean home in beautiful Kittery
Roomy, light filled, home with deck overlooking Naval Shipyard. Very well provisioned with everything necessary for preparing meals in roomy kitchen. Lots of natural light and plenty of comfortable furniture including wide screen TV with movie channels
Wonderful spacious apartment across from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Fabulous location, lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood, with beaches, shopping, and Portsmouth a short drive. I actually hate ro let anyone know about the place, but the owners are terrific, so I guess it's only fair. All this and you can bring Fido.
Thanks, Gina! Looking forward to seeing you and Andy again next summer!
Private, Quiet Maine Vacation
Coming to Maine, my husband and I were lured there by the thought of temps in the 70s with ocean breezes, lobster rolls and a quaint town.
All of this happened except for the temps. The weather was horridly hot which caused us to spend most of our time in our apartment. Here is what we found:
A clean and bright apartment consisting of five rooms and a balcony. The apartment has private entrance and exit, which affords TONS of privacy.
The balcony was perfect size which afforded us an OUTSTANDING view of the US Navy Shipyard and all of their happenings.
The grounds have gorgeous gardens. There was also an arrangement waiting for us when we arrived as a welcome. The kitchen is very airy and bright and ideal for food prep.
We were very thankful to find AC for the Kitchen and for the Master Bedroom alone. It was much needed during the hot days. There is also WiFi available for the kitchen area.
Having a car is crucial. We thought we could do without one...but Kittery does not have a grocers (for the essentials) Close by is a farmstand. Ned was so kind to lend us his car and one of the days we took him up on that.
As far as food goes we enjoyed ALL of the following that are ALL within a short block of the apartment:
Rudders Public House: Continental-Gastropub
Lil's Cafe: Organic baked goods, sandwiches, coffee.
Maine Squeeze: Juices and smoothies.
AJ's Wood Fire Pizza: Thinnish pies with great flavor combos and salads.
Each of these we visited multiple times.
The decor is a few steps up from the imagined "harbor-unfinished-chic." Ned and Shannon thought of everything. They even let us tag along for lunch with friends traveling by their boat.
The one thing I will take away is the quiet solitude and the bedroom community enclaviness of Kittery.
