Why Jared Gray chose Iuka

We chose to build this house at Pickwick Lake because it is such a beautiful atmosphere up there. We love the water and love being out on the lake. Pickwick is such a clean lake and offers so much for so many different people in so many different ways.

Our house is located in the northern most foothills of Mississippi. Its where 3 states meet, the land is so beautiful and is constantly changing with the seasons. There is so much to offer year round from the Fall folage feels like your in the smoky mountains, to the warm summer where you can enjoy the clear water everything from Hiking, skiing, canoeing, fishing, golfing are just some of the things that make our place special. Great Fishing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting from Northern Indiana and had a fantastic visit to the Pickwick Lake area for fishing. This rental was everything it promised to be. We were a group of four visiting to fish and the cabin was clean, comfortable and conveniently located to the boat ramps (we brought a boat). There was plenty of room for all of us and our gear, and the cabin was perfect for us. We learned that the owner, Jared, was an avid fisherman too, and he provided several locations to check out which were very helpful. The cabin would have been plenty roomy enough had we brought our wives. The living room and deck were spacious, the kitchen and laundry was modern and easy to use, and in addition to the four bedrooms, there were 2 1/2 baths, which made getting out the door in the morning much easier. We really enjoyed the cabin and our visit, and plan to return. Jared was very accessible and promptly replied to all emails, texts and calls. We arrived at night and initially had trouble determining which driveway led up to the cabin. It would have been helpful to either mark the driveway or provide detailed location information. My iphone mapping app put us directly on the road in front of the cabin, but there were several drives to choose from, with steep ascents, and we were towing a boat. Just a suggestion. We really enjoyed the cabin overall and would highly recommend it. There is also a fantastic BBQ place about 5 miles north in Counce, TN that isn't to be missed.

Would recommend as a Best Buy for Pickwick Lake area

  • 4 of 5

Great for an extended family celebration weekend. Very clean, comfortably furnished, and well- equipped house with plenty of linens and supplies. Kids loved the lower level basement space. Significantly lower price than some other 4 or 5 bedroom options in the area.

Great house, great view, great stay

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the house and property immensely. The 3 younger ones with us enjoyed the outdoors and several of us went for nice walks. The view of the lake with the full moon shimmering on the water was worth the trip!

The disappointed visit.

  • 1 of 5

We were very disappointed with our stay. This is the second review we have submitted because we haven't heard anything back from our first review! That in and of itself doesn't sit well with us. The house, upon opening the door, we were met with very strong smell of air fresheners, almost an instant headache, made me think what were they trying to mask the smell of, mold? Then looking at the floor, the living room carpet certainly wasn't vacuumed, saw much dirt and debris on there. The bedroom carpet too gave no signs of a vacuum being used either.

Then the glass table in the living room was clearly covered with finger prints as was the dishwasher, certainly there isn't a lot of furniture with which to clean, wipe or dust. The dresser in the bedroom had a good amount of dust on it.

Overall, the general feel was one of being very unclean. In fact, I had to buy 3 canisters of Clorox wipes and use them myself to clean the house.

I hope to hear from the owners, again this is our second review and we have heard nothing back.

Owner's Response: Richard, I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with the property, I can assure that the cleaning services for the property have been notified of your observations and concerns. Our goal is to provide a property that is adequately supplied with all the necessary amenities, as well as providing a clean and comfortable experience for our guests. Additionally, we want to provide an affordable option for clients and their families/friends. Our review rating is very good, with the vast majority of our feedback being very positive. We have come to realize that anytime you offer a property to the public, you will inevitably have a guest that will come away with a negative experience. Please know that this is certainly not our intent but simply the reality of renting a property. I urge all guests to reach out to me during their stay if any questions or concerns arise. More times than not, issues can be resolved during the reserved dates. My contact information is posted and had I been made aware of your concerns promptly, I would have personally came by and addressed them. Thanks again for staying at Pickwick Heights. Sincerely, Jared Gray
