Nice house on an incredible lake

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Lake Burton. The house is located in a wonderful quiet cove. We loved the large open living area. There are lots of steps so may not be great for everyone. We did a lot of floating and swimming right at the boat house.

Great retreat for our family.

  • 5 of 5

The property was great. The comments from others were helpful so our expectations were set. There are some stairs up to the main level and the dock is a shared dock. The other family was polite and due to so much time spent on th lake, we really didn't see them much. The main level is a large space (the pictures do not do it justice) and so lots of area to play games, watch tv and cook meals. Everything was well kept. The kids enjoyed the top level loft and treated it as their oasis.

Enjoyed our stay at Lake Burton but for the money paid for the week very disappointed in the home. You could tell at one time it was taken care of well--now--not so much. The outside of the home needs much attention. The inside was ok. The t.v. in the loft and the one in the "basement" did not work. They were also very old televisions. The one in the family room, you had to get up and manually adjust the volume--very frustrating. Also, very basic cable. For a few dollars more the owner could upgrade for the rent charged. The kitchen lacked in utensils and pots and pans. We were a large group and difficult to cook with so few pans, etc. The one spatula was from Olive Garden--really! No vacuum to vacuum floors. The bedrooms were fine, but polyester sheets--very cheap! If one has trouble with stairs this is not the house for you. From the "basement" up to the first floor it is 21 steps. That is a lot of luggage and groceries to carry. Then another 16 steps to the loft. Would not share a "boat house" again. The boat house was in need of repair as well. Lake Burton is gorgeous and the location of this home is good, but lots of attention to detail is needed by the owner to make this place "special."

Owner's Response: I am disappointed with review because was under impression all had fun. I will address TV issues and were not aware of any problems. As recently as the week before we received great reviews and of course this is the first time hearing any of this but will address legitimate issues quickly. Jim

Great house and dock!

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous house located on a calm cove. Great for kids, dogs etc. The shared dock is not an issue at all- In fact we made new friends! We definitely plan on renting again.

Perfect lake weekend!

  • 5 of 5

About 7 of us rented this property for a weekend to attend a wedding that was held across the lake. I can't say enough about the location, the cleanliness and the friendliness of the owner. The home is right on the lake and the boat house is perfect for hanging out, laying out in the sun and just enjoying the day. The house had pretty much everything you would need as far as kitchen items and the gas grill was clean and ready to use (i.e. no need to worry about getting any propane). The pictures also don't do the house justice because the kitchen and common areas are HUGE. We had about five people in the kitchen making dinner one night and we didn't feel cramped or run into each other once. Bathrooms were clean and towels were well-stocked. It was honestly the best setting for a group get together.
