A beautiful house in a great neighborhood
We really loved our stay. The house is well appointed with lots of room for entertaining, cooking, and hanging out. The lower finished basement was perfect for 4 teenagers to share, equipped with their own TV and spacious bathroom. The bedroom on the main level was spacious, and had a very comfortable bed! The two upstairs bedrooms were also comfortable, but since heat rises they're the warmest rooms at night (so no need for flannel PJs in winter!). The kitchen was a great space to hang out, visit and cook, with 6 bar stools providing guests plenty of comfy sitting while noshing. The bathroom on the main level was also spacious, with a nice tub/shower.
This house is on a very hip street, with multiple acclaimed restaurants in walking distance. We didn't have a car during our stay, but City Feed & Supply was a quaint coffee shop/deli/grocery in walking distance where we did all of our grocery shopping. The CVS a block further also had plenty of groceries for our needs (a Whole Foods and Shop & Stop are driving distance). We enjoyed visiting Grass Fed for delicious burgers and JP Licks for ice cream, and browsed fun book stores and shops along the street. We caught the 39 bus a block from the house for a trip to Boston Common which took 15 minutes.
The host was very quick to respond to emails (within a few hours) and very pleasant. I would highly recommend this lovely house!
Thank you for the great review and the kind words! I believe you were the group that spent the holidays there and happy your time was great. Have to have you stay anytime!!!!
Renovated and beautiful place!
I came with my family for three days. We found a clean, renovated, beautiful house. Everything has been just perfect. Clean and comfortable beds, a kitchen very well equipped, fireplace, water heater providing more than enough hot water, comfortable house temperature, and a great location plenty of restaurants. The owner has been truly friendly and supportive. I have no doubt on recommending this property. We had a great time here.
Wow! What a great review and glad you had a good stay and enjoyed the house! We try and keep the house in its very best shape for all!!!
Just as pictured, great stay
Everything went very smoothly for us. The house is on the main street going through Jamaica Plain which means it's close to coffee shops, restaurants and more. Felt safe. Beds were all made for us and very comfy. The only thing we didn't love were loud overhead footsteps from the people in the other apartment (they seem to get home late at night) but what are ya gonna do. If we had had more time, I would have liked to explore the green spaces and walking trails nearby. There were 5 of us who went to a conference. We each had our own bed and two of us shared the basement room.
Charming house in convenient location
The house.was charming in a great location near the subway. We made many trips into Boston. The house was spacious and had an updated kitchen with a large dining area. My family loved it.
REALLY glad you hear you had nice stay and also that you enjoyed the home. we just put in a new beautiful kitchen and glad you liked it!!!!
Spacious older home in nice area with good access to public transit. Pictures nicer than home.
Home met our needs but was very noisy due to creaking floors and another rental unit upstairs. No bathroom on top level with 2 bedrooms. Pictures are much nicer making us expect a property of a higher caliber, thus price was higher than it was worth. Unit had AC and laundry which was excellent. Property owner quite responsive.
I am really sorry you did not find the home to your liking. All homes in Boston are older but this one was completely renovated with new windows, walls, floors refinished and the kitchen is actually newer than the pictures show so I am having a hard time understanding how it was not up to expectations. Sincerely sorry it was not what you are looking for but we keep the house up to a very high standard and are always improving it.
Acceptable but dated
We stayed for 7 days towards the end of June. The photos are out of date and do not represent the condition of the property. The yard is overgrown and the deck is well worn with orange tape cautioning areas of stress. As for the inside it was OK but could use touch up work and a good scrubbing or repainting, There was a gnat infestation in basement shower and floor drain, and in the main floor bathroom. The kitchen and appliances are very nice, linens were stained, but clean.
The location itself was very convenient with the subway about 8 minutes away. With the "Charlie card" for the "T" it was very easy to get around Boston. There are a large number of restraunts and an excellent bakery, neighborhood grocery, and an ice cream store a couple of blocks away. The owner was very responsive to inquiries and request to arrive early.
I am glad that you did enjoy aspects of the home but surprised that the inside needed a deeper cleaning. I have used the same cleaning crew for 17 years and rarely get complaints on their work. I wish the guest would have said something and I could have tried to get them back into the house to touch up.
Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood in Boston which is adjacent to downtown and less than 10 minutes by T to downtown. Also a bike trail into Boston Downtown. JP is a very artistic lively neighborhood with over 15 great restaurants within 5 minutes walk from home, cafes and shops steps away from the house. A few blocks away is also Jamaica Pond with walking and bike trails around it.
