Dream home in the jungle
This place is simply amazing!!! If you want seclusion peace quiet and comfort I can’t imagine you would find a better place on the big island. The studio apartment has all you need for you and your significant other. The home is roomy with a big comfy bed two amazing showers oneninside and one outside. If you have never taken an outdoor shower in the pounding rain then you need to come
to this home. The kitchen is small but there is a bbq grill and really all you need to prepare a meal. The setting is secluded in the amazing big island jungle you can feel safe to open every window and let the trade winds cool you of and the frogs and bird song you to sleep. My wife and I have stayed in vrbo’s all
over the Hawaiian islands and this was by far the best!!!! It’s not a resort and that’s the point your at the end of the road and it’s amazing!!!! The place was clean comfy quiet secluded I could go on an on. Just book it and stay here you won’t be disappointed!!!
Very nice and roomy place in the middle of Hawaiian rain forest. We were surrounded by a tropical forest. Birds and frogs were making their calls with the sounds ocean in the background.
This is a great spot to stay and explore the northern coast of The Big Island. There is a hike down to the black sand beach close by. The town of Hawi is a nice town to stroll through for shops, restaurants, farmers market. There are several spots along the coast to hike down to the ocean, a great swimmable beach within an easy drive and a local fresh fish market close by. We grilled each night on the awesome deck and slept well listening to the forest noises. One thing to consider is that The Suite is connected to a larger cottage so you do have the comings and goings of a family to think about. Plus the beach equipment is stored in a shared location with the other renters and, with them being a family of 4, they took everything and left it in their vehicle for the entire stay. So no boogie boards for us:( We ended up renting boards at the beach, since the waves are so HUGE you need them to enjoy the ocean fun. So if I could suggest anything to improve I would say set up a separate storage place for the suite renters, even just on the deck would be fine. Everything else was wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay
Felt like I was in a tree fort in the jungle
Hard to find with just gps!!! Download directions before you arrive. Smaller than I thought but quality through out. Would return for sure!!
Quiet guesthouse in quiet town
We had a fine 7 day stay in bamboo suite. All beaches and shoreline access are short, easy drives, as are grocery and restaurants. Thanks Mike for fresh oranges and tips for sight seeing..Whale watching from shore was an unexpected treat. Bring binoculars!
The large porches are great for sitting out with morning coffee... but the property is jungly, so bring your repellent and maybe a skeeter coil... The kitchenette is well supplied, but the small range did not heat enough for our evening popcorn... we had to get store-bought..such vacation turmoil...it worked fine for omelets. Also, the satellite TV was not working, but there are Dvd’s. Bring your books... WiFi works ok for email, search, and streaming radio... too slow for video.
Do not depend on your app to lead you in! 3G in area is also spotty. Print your driving instructions and arrive before dark. Turn into the dirt driveway at Kohala Baptist church and keep bearing right
Private, clean, wonderful!
The finishes in this rental are very nice and the place was extremely clean. We had complete privacy and never saw another human from any window or from the patio our entire stay. The bed was very comfortable and we found ourselves deciding on a few evenings to come back just to enjoy our rental space by grilling out and sitting on the porch. Sleeping at night with all the windows open and listening to the trees outside blow in the wind was heavenly.
The Big Island's North Kohala district is the discriminating travelers' best-kept secret. Experience 'Old Hawaii' in the charming historic towns of Hawi and Kapaau, with artists' shops, galleries, and delightful cafes. Historic sites - the famous statue of King Kamehameha, state parks, tropical gardens, Pololu Valley - with its majestic views, black sand beach, and scenic hiking trails. Or kick back, and enjoy some of the island's best beaches. Whale watching is seasonal (December through April), but the sea turtle sightings occur year-round.
