Perfect Cabin, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

House was very clean and comfortable! Great location and views!! Was the perfect distance from Evergreen but also close enough to drive and do some great activities during the day at other close locations! It's quite the climb/drive to get there but worth it if you want great views and quietness! Very relaxing and will be contacting Michael again when we stay in Colorado again! Thank you!!

Cozy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A great spot for getting away from it all and for watching the total eclipse. Cabin is bright and airy with lots of windows, plus a deck in back and a covered porch in front, complete with rocking chair and gas grill. Comfortable beds (but you might want to bring your own pillows) a roomy bathroom with a tub/shower and washer/dryer. Plenty of hot water. Wifi was efficient and strong enough for streaming videos. Michael and his crew, Roger and Ally, were very welcoming and helpful. The last mile of the drive up was unpaved and somewhat challenging, but it's worth the climb. The Brook Forest Inn, just a short distance down the mountain, had a lively bar, personable staff and a varied menu with excellent food.

See you next summer.

Comfy Cabin in the Rockies!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was exactly what we wanted for our stay in Colorado! It was immaculate and well stocked. The queen beds were super comfortable! A nice little winding drive up the mountain where we had some up close encounters with beautiful deer! Amazing scenic drives between Denver, Evegreen, and Littleton. The owner was great to work with, very prompt answering questions and helpful. My family and I hope to be able to vacation here again!

Not Up To VRBO Standards...

  • 2 of 5

Although this cabin was decorated nicely, from my experiences with VRBO, it simply was not up to the normal standards of other VRBO rentals. For instance, most of the windows that actually had screens had to be propped open by pieces of wood. Not all the windows even had screens. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows smelled like stale smoke. The bathroom towels were stained with bleach, which made me feel like I was using dog towels. The kitchen table was set up with plates, etc., but the coffee cups had old coffee stains inside and lipstick stains on the outside of the cup. The fan only had one speed because the someone had broken the chain. All of the items above seem like sheer neglect. For the money, this place was definitely not worth it. The owner was very nice and hospitable, and the wild life was awesome.

Owner's Response: This guest was phony, dishonest and filthy. The cabin was left with logs dragged out of the woods left in the parking lot so as to obstruct vehicle access. The guests family was involved in domestic violence which required a visit by the county sheriff. On the second day of thier visit we arrived on site to find not one but 2 county Sheriffs vehicles defusing a potentially violent family incident. The kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom were left with filth everywhere. The carpets were left with food leavings all over the floors and food garbage and trash were strewn everywhere outside and throughout the house. We found 2 towels in the bathroom that had bleach stain on them most likely caused by the guest. Another dishonest statement about the windows;. 1 not "most or all" needed to be propped up because it is broken and we are waiting on a part to fix it. This was a lie. There are 6 opening windows in the house The fireplace had been used and left with ashes and fireplace refuge strewn thru out the living room. Upon the guests arrival and departure she was very complimentary about the cabin. but obviously had a hidden adgenda. We are always on site and could have easily addressed any complaints this guest had such as the chain missing on the ceiling fan. This is an Out right lie. There is a chain control on the Ceiling fan that allows for 3 speeds. We usually evaluate our less than positive reviews from our guests and try to take responsibility for the our shortcomings and correct them. . Not in this case. In this case this family obviously has pschycological problems with domestic violence, and drug use and need to blame anyone but themselves for their dysfunctional lifestyle and fail to mention what disgusting behaviors they demonstrate when in the stewardship of other people's property. The guest mentioned that she smelled smoke in the pillows. This may be because of her dysfunctional, violent, grown adult children, who were removed from the property by the Sheriffs Dept, and who smoked pot in the house. We found a small amount of pot, a pot pipe and had to de- contaminate the bedroom in which they slept and smoked pot while there 9 year old child shared the room. In 10 years of renting short term we have never encountered a family that was as totally undesirable as these people. Please read deep into our many reviews of our wonderful guests who found the "Wilderness Cabin on the Canyon" to be a great Vacation home lodging experience. Michael
