About Marilly Morton

Fred, as a teacher, is a life time learner. His passion is family, reading and sports. Marilly has a passion for family, birds, photography and traveling, visiting Nicaragua, The Netherlands, Germany & Italy. We both visited Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Switzerland, Aruba, Vancouver Island & Victoria BC, and Fred managed a sailing trip to Belize with our oldest son.

To keep the international flavor in our home, we hosted exchange students including: two German, two Japanese, two Koreans, and one Colombian.

Besides our four vacation rentals, we own 2 Subway stores (in Portland, OR).

Marilly Morton purchased this lodge in 2008

Why Marilly Morton chose Mount Rainier

We love the mountains, and Packwood is very like Switzerland, only the mountains are smaller and farther apart. It is in the center of Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 7 miles from the southern entrance to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, and surround by Tatoosh, William O Douglass, and Goat Rocks Wilderness areas. There is a constant flow of wildlife including: elk, coyotes, raccoon, fox, black bear, bald eagles, beaver and more, and year round recreational activities.

What makes this lodge unique

I enjoy being outside in the hot tub under a star studded sky with wood smoke on the wind from the fire pit while elk pass by, what a combination! Throwing snowballs from the hot tub in the midst of winter made for a great memory and photo shoot. Indoors offers every comfort from home and even more with a far infrared sauna to soothe tired muscles. I never tire of watching the many faces of Mt. Rainier or the elk and birds at the Lodge. It's a great place for dreaming!

Guestbook comments from the owner

HI there,

Just wanted to say a BIG THANKS for a wonderful weekend with our entire family!! The place was in tip-top condition and more than we were expecting. The place was perfect for us with sleeping, eating (love the BIG table), relaxing...the view and weather couldn't have been better!!

We went on day hikes in the area, found our church services in Morton for Sunday (we are Mormon) and appreciated your generous hospitality to open such a lovely home for us to enjoy together.

We loved the campfires at night and visiting around them. It was nice to have all 6 of our children gathered around the campfire and enjoy conversations and look into all their faces...truly a beautiful sight!!

Anyway, I don't know if you get to hear from your renters, but we absolutely LOVED our time there and say THANKS for having us!!

Big, modern, beautiful. Also, Elk central!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Ranier View Lodge. Logistics with homeowner were great, no problems. Everything worked. We hung out at the firepit in the back yard, we used the hot tub. They have a really cool table in the kitchen for gathering at mealtime. Every morning, we saw 1 or 2 female elk grazing in the meadow across the driveway. Recommended.

Awesome Cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has it all. Paradise is about 30 minute drive with plenty of trail heads on the way. Packwood is also an interesting little town with the best burger I found in Washington at the Blue Spruce.

Father's Day Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an exceptional experience at the Rainier View Lodge. It has a stunning view of the mountain during the day. For picture takers, you can't find a better place to catch nature at its best! We rented movies at the local grocery store and hiked the Silver Falls and Box Canyon paths. The AIR was so pure and clean it was heavenly! At the house we cooked, made a fire and spent time in the hot tub. We definitely left relaxed and rested. You gotta check this place out!

The Best Father's Day weekend of my life!

  • 5 of 5

The Rainier View Lodge is a great option to stay if you are looking for comfort, peace, fun and family time!

I stayed there for 3 days with my family, and I have no complains. The house was clean and very well equipped. I had a great father's day bbq with family. Also, if you are looking for some amazing hiking adventures Packwood is a great option for your summer. I would like to thank you the owners for being so attentive.

Beautiful view of Mt. Rainier!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six had a lovely time in this well-appointed lodge. We had plenty of room and the house had everything it advertised. We especially enjoyed the view of Mt. Rainier from the front of the house. Our spring visit gave us good weather for a fire out back with dinner at the picnic table. The house is very clean and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay just a very short drive to Mt. Rainier National Park. June 2, 2017
